Ungrateful and judgemental? That's ridiculous. It's called having an opinion about a tv show. Now the people complaining before we saw anything, I might agree with that assessment, but stating an opinion based on the final product is par the course.

Im sorry but this is judgmental. These are PREVIEWS, not actual shows. How about waitng til they actually air. Some fans have been vile, shallow & judgmental especially over at the official facebook pages for both soaps. I don't think I have seen one countdown picture for either show, that wasnt judgmental and plain malicious in comments and uneducated as well.

It's just stupid. These fans wanted the shows back & got em but since they arent the way they want (On TV & the ABC cast intact) lets bitch. Grow up.Now that is sad to say given that most of the bitching on there comes from mothers & grandmothers who should no better then to call recast actors dogs & rednecks. This judgment is unwarranted since they havent even seen the actors act yet. Unfortunatley that makes those who arent fans of soaps think thats how all soap fans are.

If people are scouring boards looking for negative comments, then you're going to find plenty. The 'net isn't exactly known for burgeoning positivity and cuddles. Deadline is somewhat of an industry site, and they're even less likely to get into a hugfest.

I spend a fair amount of time there but a lot of the Deadline comments didn't strike me as the usual industry people - more like soap fans seizing on another article to creep on. In any event, the reception was fairly diverse.

I don't read most of the articles, the few I did seem more industry, but I haven't read any of the soap stuff. I'm just not sure what the point is of anyone going around looking for negative comments about the show. You can probably find plenty here soon enough.

Pot meet kettle.

I'm tired of reading rants about fans being ungrateful. Didn't we get enough of that chiding attitude from ABC all these years? It's PP's job to run an effective marketing campaign that will appear to their consumers and sorry, John, that includes the so-called uneducated viewers, too.

There's a reason billions are spent researching the best marketing strategies. I'm not sure PP has employed the most effective marketing but I'm happy to see more focus on mainstream press coverage. I'm also happy there's more focus on modernizing their shows. That's long overdue.

I'm confused as to when people weren't allowed to judge a product from a trailer. I've seen trailers for many rebooted movies and a series or two and decided not to watch. That doesn't make one uneducated, it means the trailer failed to entice me to watch.

I'm also confused as to why these comments from strangers on the Internet matter so much to you. Go outside.

Cynthia Cidre, who reboot Dallas, has the right attitude. She gave an interview saying it was HER JOB to ENTICE the original Dallas fans into giving her the reboot a chance. I really appreciated she didn't come off entitled but committed to winning over original fans. But the first long trailer wasn't very good, IMO, and I was wary she was just giving us lip service. It was a later short clip of Larry's big grin promising JR was back that made me tune in :-) I'm really glad I did as JR's goodbye was one of the most well written emotional tributes I've ever watched. The Dallas reboot isn't perfect but I don't feel she ever takes the old, loyal fans for granted.

PP and their cheerleaders here could learn a valuable lesson from Cidre's approach. Stop telling us WE MUST OWE PP a chance. It's PP who OWE US their consumers, some enticing reasons to tune in. Speaking for myself, I found several things in the long PP trailer that makes me curious and willing to give PP a shot. But others maybe haven't found their "JR grin" yet and that's just fine for THEM TO VOICE.

What Im talking about is that if your gonna judge something from a Trailer than you dont get the full effect of what is being shown. Scenes in trailers are placed out of context. Also Im giving PP a fair shot because of what the actors are saying, the fact that they brought the shows back & they have done an excellent job so far IMO about promoting these shows.

My biggest beef with these fans is just the way they have behaved since the shows began taping. Judging actors by looks only, without seeing an ounce of finished episodes. Also calling them dogs, rednecks, fat, skinny, not black enough. Those FB pages are TOXIC and the actors do read them. Its really SAD that these fans feel they are entitled to get everything they want. They want TV and Original ABC cast. Not gonna happen. So they feign ignorance that they have no idea about Hulu & Itunes, Give the shows you claim to love a chance.

I'm in a weird position because I'm usually on the cynical side yet I'm very excited for these new shows. I feel like we're seeing the next evolution of the genre and I'm enjoying the ride. I don't consider myself to be a PP cheerleader but I can see where others would. All those disclaimers aside, I've always said that it isn't the job of fans to support the shows, it's the job of the shows to make us want to watch. At the end of the day, we're not partners, we're the customers and we can decide whether or not to watch for any reason we please. Personally, I think PP has a better grasp of that than ABC did. Of course, it's not like they could do worse.

But that's the nature of Facebook. Always has been, always will be and not just for soaps.

And let's be honest, plenty of people on this site have said equally hateful things about actors we don't like. Just ask Kristen Alderson. SON ain't no Bible study class. It's one big, crowded glass house and we have no right to judge.
