I'm 99.9% positive that that story absolutely will not show up on screen. But hey. :P I believe he did interact when... Kitty was being abuse or on drugs or whatever? I have their stories all muddled...

I liked the photo shoot--ok, I admit it was almost too glam for me, but I think it's classy that they are trying to do something like this (when was the last time ABC did) even if I hope it doesn't reflect how the show ill look.

The story with Ruth having feelings for another man in the late 70s was hardly popular--I don't see a retcon with Joe cheating being more so (especially if they can't get Ruth on screen often enough to play it out...)

...I thought there was meant to be a point in having seperate OLTL and AMC threads... (not that I wanted one until the shows started airing, but... whistling.jpg )

Yes but she didn't have the creator of the show there looking over the initial story points. I have no doubt that if this show is a success, Nixon will become less and less involved, but I can't see her approving that as one of the first stories.

Sigh. And here I was hoping he'd stubbornly stick to his guns and just never talk about these shows again...

...at least that's what we've kinda sorta heard. I don't think there's anyway to know, yet. It could be the usual 20 mins just so it would fit on commercial tv at some point.

I actually like the hot bitch shot of Eden Riegel a lot. I don't see why Bianca shouldn't get to finally be a sexual being.

I was under the distinct impression at the time that Laura had to attend HS to finish a few credits or classes, back when Laura Allen was in the role and dyking out with Binks. She attended gym class and everything.

I don't think I saw a promo for the soaps in the EW opening, just a lot of Bonnie Franklin, Jennifer Lawrence, DWTS, etc. And that makes me nervous. What kind of weird Oz television feed am I getting? Did they put it on that weird gossip show airing at 7? I live in New York, not some podunk.

Exactly--not necessarily a new thing. To me it feels familiar, but yeah different. But--I see that as a positive. It doesn't feel like "Hey this isn't AMC..." In all honesty, if ABC had been better at replacing dead end characters in its last decade, I could see the cast changing this much within this new "5 years later" time frame anyway.

Worst example EVER. B&B, even amongst fans is infamous for casting people and NEVER EVER using them and always focusing on the same tiny incestuous group. Half the cast on the show are glorified cameos. Your example proved the point.

They're still not promoting anything for after the break but DWTS, some reality show people and Bonnie Franklin, who is still dead after their first segment about her, thanks. Am I living in Dimension X?

What the !@#$%^&*]? Are you watching this live? All I have in front of me is some crap called L.A. Shrinks! Did I miss it when I looked down at the keyboard? This dreck is on mute right now.

FINALLY, the soap promo for after the break. Wow, the OLTL shot looks great.

Speaking of cast size--

This could be wrong, by LaGuardia's late 70s book, The Wonderful World of TV Soap Operas says that when AMC premiered its complete contract cast list was--I'll list character names not actors:

Amy

Nick

Phoebe

Ann

Dr Charles

Chuck

Lincoln

Ruth

Ted

Phil

Joe

Tara

Mona

Erica

Kate

For OLTL (even though that should be in the other thread ;) ):

Victoria

Meredith

Victor

Joe

Vince

Larry

Anna

Dave

Eileen

Dr James

Carla

Sadie

Dr Marcus

Of course they had others who were recurring, but just to put the argument about cast sizes into perspective.

    • It was reported that Jane Wyman absence in the final season was due to health (it's documented that Jane was diabetic) but I believe her episodes being cut was a budget mode move. Similar move Dallas pulled in its final season, it was reported that Barbara Bel Geddes retired due to health (it's documented that Barbara had a heart condition) but I say salary dump. Jane Wyman only acted once after Falcon Crest, a 1993 episode of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, but she lived another 14 years after that. Barbara Bel Geddes did not act again after her last episode of Dallas in 1990 but she lived another 15 years after that. The trifecta of suck at Lorimar was Les Moonves, Leonard Katzman, and Michael Filerman. It was a pattern across all three CBS primetime soaps in the off the rails plus budget mode era to salary dump the long-time female cast members and bring on sweet young things hired on the cheap.
    • To be fair, more than half of them are dead now.
    • Kat may be a privileged elitist but that's not entirely true.  Kat first met Eva when Eva was snooping at Nicole's desk, so Kat's first impression of Eva wasn't very good.  Plus, Kat's instinct to not trust Eva was 100% right.  Kat's attitude toward Eva had nothing to do with Eva not "bowing" down to Kat, and her feelings toward her half-sister is very justified......minus the making fun of Eva's clothes of course.
    • They said that this has metastasized to his bones, but the type of "aggressive" prostate cancer he has is actually very common and is treatable, or at least manageable. So the headline is misleading.   Apparently this type of cancer is hormonal which makes it somewhat treatable? But still, of course, sad.  Thinking of him and his loved ones.
    • Kat is a spoiled brat princess and Silk Press Sheila called her out on it.  Silk Press Sheila is someone not to mess with. I was actually scared for Kat when she was alone with Silk Press Sheila and recording their conversation.
    • It is funny that Stephanie and Philip still hide/blush/get embarrassed at the sight of each other.  Meanwhile, Kate's pouring coffee for Rafe at the pub as if they're only casual acquaintances.  Although, if Kate blushed every time she saw one of her former lovers, she'd be permanently red.
    • Great thought.  I mostly forgot about Kate's cancer.
    • I figured because Kate received her cancer treatment at the hospital that she decided to “give back” by being on the board.
    • Someone posted years ago that they remember Pamela Peters (Peggy) was having some sort of issues behind the scenes during the rape storyline and barely participated onscreen when it played out. Trish Stewart (Chris) seemed to carry most of the storyline along with Dick DeCoit (Ron) and David Hasselhoff (Snapper). I think the poster also mentioned that Anthony Hererra (Jack) said that Pamela Peters one day looked into the camera and exclaimed she didn't know what she was doing and walked out of the scene.
