HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I'm not totally sure this is his facebook but this is what I saw in my feed

Tuc Watkins

Lets keep our fingers cross to the return of one life to live and hopefully David Vickers to our lives.

I hope to never, ever see him again. That's about as bad as Cameron Mathison/Ryan on AMC.

I feel that Gigi accomplished whatever she was set to accomplish and I don't think that she's needed for the reboot. David, who went from being a perfectly viable character in the beginning, became too much of a farce who embodies all of the schtick and bad habits of FV/RC OLTL. With a new EP and HW, I hope we can move away from this idea of OLTL being a campy fan-ficky soap and reembrace its Nixonian core values.

While I have read every comment on this thread I also read the press release from PP very carefully too. It clearly stated that both AMC & OLTL would begin production next month "4) arranged the necessary financing to begin production in February on both All My Children and One Life To Live". To me that would mean that both shows would start production next month so the rotating theory wouldn't really apply here. I am not saying is not a great idea I am just not sure that's how they are going to do it. But again I guess we'll just have to wait and see, however, I am beyond thrilled we are getting both shows back.

I realize "Nixonian core values" sounds very obama_snob.gif but you know what I mean. :P

Ive heard from more than reliable source they are rotating filming so PP can have both shows share the same studio and crew. It'll save money

Maybe they will shoot AMC two weeks than OLTL two weeks and repeat. Who the hell knows

Little by little this seems to get more and more official. So, if they already have the costs lined up for production and no WGA deal (yet) does this mean they'll use fi-core writers? Presumably at this point the writing has begun? Is Agnes still a WGA member? Maybe she is writing the "bibles" for the reboot.

Oh my G-d, don't get my hopes up like that. I mean, she had been ghostwriting pretty much everything of note during AMC's final years and all, but... ;)

Im thinking they will start with Fi-core writers to get rolling & then when the WGA deal is final they could replace them. Im assuming that PP may have Fi-core writers at least writing the story bibles 4 both shows

Haha! I know right? Oh Agnes and her "ghostwriting", but seriously.... they are really touting her involvement. I just truly wonder HOW involved she is at 86 years old.

Tuc Watkins was signed on the last time, so I'm not surprised he's interested this time.

Yeah I think PP is talking to the 13 who signed on before

Agnes is consulting. She can provide input on the shows whether there is a WGA deal or not. She created the shows, so I'm sure she's not giving a damn if she doesn't get her WGA residual check for any writing she may or may not have done.

I'll repeat myself on the WGA though. Just because a WGA deal hasn't been signed/agreed to yet, despite plans apparently in place to get a deal done, that does NOT mean Prospect Park can't hire a fi-core writer as the HW of AMC and OLTL and keep them there. Josh Griffith went fi-core and he is the HW of Y&R. Let's not forget these details, people.
