HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

My issue isn't recasting Destiny (who was a plot device, little more), is why is the character even needed. Apparently it was just for that ugly story coming up. I'd rather they just bring in a new character.

If PP is serious about a cable deal I dont see much nudity unless they plan 2 ar on HBO or showtime networks

I think a better question is why they wouldn't use the character. Realistically, this is a show that is trying to reinvent itself for the digital age and the 21st century, with, understandably, a renewed focus on the youth market in addition to what will hopefully continue to be multi-generational storytelling. Matthew and Destiny are young people with a child out of wedlock, they're an interracial couple - they are primed to headline a youth scene. It's a no-brainer. Of course you use them. And while Des was a weak character at best in the past, there's no reason good writing can't flesh her out. See also: Sarah Roberts, the numerous failed Joeys.

Whether or not this particular story works for them is something I'll reserve judgment on.

I'm assuming that we are looking at basic cable rules of language (slightly saltier than network) and nudity (none.)

Des was dropping the f-bomb in her audition sides. I actually hope they don't take it that far. I'd go with the level of language on FX or AMC but at this point, hearing the soap stars all curse like sailors on HBO would be a little comical.

Separate threads for the shows is better, cuts down confusion and less to wade through too

her first acting job, I hope she's good and not majorly green

That is how I see it as well

I never considered them a couple and I think they were both badly marginalized to the point of being irrelevant. The only real use I see is if they can bring some story for Bo and Nora, but I think you would need someone with huge talent and charisma to make the Destiny that we knew into something worth watching. I might be more optimistic if I hadn't read that script.

I don't think she's pretty at all and of course Destiny magically lost a hundred pounds in a year.

Not excited at all/

Today's marginalized or backburnered character can always be tomorrow's star. It's just a question of the talent and the writing. If we just accept that these characters must always be D-List then we're back in Frons School, IMO. And no, I don't think Bo and Nora's son is ever irrelevant to OLTL. They certainly took a stab at that off and on in the last years of the show with the Fords, but I think ultimately they knew they couldn't really touch him - he's too important. This time was always coming. It's not like Lenny Platt is back.

Vee, I liked Nate & James. Ford not so much. I wonder i they will say what became of Nate given that Dani is n OLTL

I would agree 100% if I hadn't seen that side.

Sides dont always equate story or if that actual scene will be used
