Song lyrics that annoy/bug you

From "Islands in the Stream," by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton (1984):

I set out to get you / With a fine tooth comb

Apparently, Kenneth's true love is the size of a hair follicle.

This could be the year for the real thing

Nothing wrong with this lyric, per se, except it feels slightly like a product placement for Coca-Cola.

I don't like that "real thing" either. I also don't like the "uh-huh" part of the song. It's like the Ray Charles backup singers falling in love.

That lyric in We Built This City, actually these:

Knee deep in the hoopla, sinking in your fight

Marconi plays the Mamba,

Someone always playing corporation games

Who cares they're always changing corporation names

Don't tell us you need us, 'cause we're the ship of fools

Looking for America, crawling through your schools

Was listening to some Christmas Music and the song "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" came on, the line about telling scary ghost stories has always bugged me. Who the hell tells scary ghost stories at Christmas?

Speaking of Christmas songs, "Mary Did You Know" is just one WTH to me. Of course Mary knew. Didn't these songwriters read the Bible?

I kind of get the implication from it that hey she's just the mother, maybe she needed to be reminded.

Oh, I love the "uh-huh" part, that's one of the best parts! I will never forget being at an amusement park when I was a kid and a guy had Dolly and Kenny marionettes who lip synced this song.

LOL!! That one never even dawned on me.

Oh, and by the by? An ox and lamb Cannot. Keep. Time. I mean, how would they even know what music is, or whether it was playing, unless they're Disney characters?

The entire song "The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game" has some pretty frustrating lyrics. Musically, it's beautiful. Lyrically, it's crap.

Every day, things change, and the world puts on a new face. Certain things rearrange, and this old world seems like a new place. Oh yeah, secretly, I been trailing you like a fox that preys on the rabbit. I had to get you, and so I knew, I had to learn your ways and habits. Oh, you were the catch that I was after, but I looked up, and I was in your arms, and I knew I had been captured. What's this old world coming to? Things just ain't the same any time the hunter gets captured by the game. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

Every day, things change and some old ideas give way to some new. Some new ideas are strange, like the new idea of me being caught by you. Oh yeah, I had laid such a tender trap, hoping you might fall into it, but love hit me like a sudden slap. One kiss, and then I knew it. Oh, my plan didn't work out like I thought, cause I had laid my trap for you, but it seems like I got caught. What's this old world coming to? Things just ain't the same any time the hunter gets captured by the game. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

It's not TOO bad, but I feel like it's extremely repetitive. Yes, we get it. The "old" world is now "new." You "laid a trap." It's complete shenanigans that you would get caught by me. We get it. Support it with some other details besides telling me that things are changing.
