They don't have the taping schedule for good performances now, unless you're a very seasoned vet with great reserves of talent. Mostly I'm happy not everyone is as lousy as Kelli Sullivan and the other new hires.

At the same time I've seen less experienced actors come and settle on soaps fairly quick though.

At one time, yes, but I think those days are gone, especially on a Valentini show. You're going to get a ton of horrible acting everywhere unless the actors have been around for 30-40-50 years.

I don't find the recent younger hires on Y&R to be horrible well except the Fenn acto and they sure haven't been around 30-40 years.

Notice he said "especially on a Valentini show" ie:GH...

I realize what he said but SK was already on GH and was on two other soaps. No excuses for him.

I'm not really excusing him as much as saying I can't be surprised at some wobbly acting. Other than Jane Elliot, sometimes NLG, sometimes Laura Wright, I just sort of expect it. I don't think Kanan sticks out any more than most of the cast.

I think he sticks out to me because I just assumed he was better. I am digging the AJ story, but I can't help but notice how bad Kanan is. It's almost as if he's holding his breath to come off really edgy when the lines exit his mouth. I'm getting a bit of Sly Stallone here. Not kidding.

I can see what you mean. I thought Finola Hughes was a lot better too, until she came back. After that I just decided to stop assuming.

FH has been awful this run. I liked her so much better on Charmed.

See, I never thought much of her in the acting department and only appreciated her as a dancer.

Sean Kanan was on Dancing With the Stars in Italy or somewhere, so maybe you can appreciate him in that way. laugh.png
