Frank and Ron shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as James E. Reilly, let alone Douglas Marland.

Hello!

But in all honesty, I really enjoyed the montage. I have got to get to a doctor, stat!

Here's one:

Granted, it's DAYS, so it's sappy as all get-out. But what I love about it (aside from that damn song, which shouldn't get to me, yet it does, lol) is how it is specific to Kim and Shane's predicament: torn apart by angst and circumstance, yet still so much in love with each other that they're never really far apart in their hearts, even if they're not in the same room.

That was simple and straight to the heart. JFP and Wendy Riche turned me off montages for a long, long time, but I love ones like that. Unfortunately GH now has no heart.

Here's another, less sappy, more action-driven montage from the Al Rabin/Shelley Curtis era at DAYS. It's been said that "Miami Vice," which was one of the first primetime series to use music in order to advance story, was more-or-less DAYS' inspiration for doing these sorts of "music videos" BITD. Looking at this one, you could see how:

That was very well produced. I shuddered when Kim was so disgusted and then she immediately switched off, going into business mode. Ugh.

I didn't see any middle-aged men doing bad tumbling. I have to deduct points.

Actually, I should have posted this one first. It took me awhile to find it on YT. You think Frank and Ron were/are awesome for taping behind the Joe's Crab Shack down the street from Prospect Studios? Check it:

Well, Kimberly Brady was a prostitute way back when. Sleeping with Victor Kiriakis (in order to save Shane's life) was "just a job to do," as the song says.

Okay. Back to our regularly scheduled GH [!@#$%^&*]-fest.

But they also had their share of adventures and action - and their share of duds.

Are we talking about "Adventures in Puerto Rico," with Latin singing sensation, Ricky "La Vida Loca" Martin? LOL!

Fine. I'll say it. This was the stupidest ending to the campiest storyline since Endgame.

Thank you!

I pointed this out in my status a few weeks ago, it was only a decade ago that JFP and McTavish were [rightfully] raked over the coals for that nonsense by both fans and the soap press, yet Cartini are suddenly saviours who provide "soapy goodness" when they tell something in a similarly absurd fashion.

There's never any perspective or constructive criticism when it comes to Cartini, they seemingly get away with what everyone else has been doing for years (and sometimes a lot better).

I thought Santa Barbara was the soap that pioneered those cheesy 80's musical montages....?

It probably was. I never said DAYS (and Shelley Curtis) pioneered them. I just feel they perfected them and brought them to a level that no other soap has been able to reach. After all, there's a reason why even DAYS stopped doing them for the most part around 1993 or so (w/ Player's "Baby Come Back" being the final song, ironically enough, lol).

No one does a montage like JFP though there have been a couple here and there that were wtfs to me(like a bubblegum pop song over scenes of a young girl trying on "sexy" dressed for her abusive boyfriend) but she does them way better than Frank.

And yes JER writes romances better than Craptini!

Patsy Pease had such star quality.

Josh Taylor said he only ever played agony aunt in his last years as Chris but he's doing more here.

Phil Collins, the heartbeat of 80s music.

Thanks for these. Sorry for going off topic.

Isn't JFP's background in musical direction, hence her penchant for montages over music going back to her SB days?

I've seen bits and pieces of it...but so far I think

Cartini>GuzaJFP

The recent remote reminded of the 80's with Felicia and Frisco and that darn carnival...lol...dont ask why it does...lol....

Cartini are hacks but their GH is miles better than GuzaJFP
