Give me a break!

An alternate interpretation is that McBain took one look at his harpy babymama and decided he'd rather blow himself up than spend one more minute with her.

Fine. I'll say it. This was the stupidest ending to the campiest storyline since Endgame.

I am in so much agreement with you, R, that I feel like doing something cheesy, like singing "That's What Friends Are For."

Lord, when it comes to daytime drama, Frank and Ron are anti-Christs, leading people in the wrong damn direction.

Covered....

Preach. For all my well-documented fangurlism and show-based bias - which I cop to - my dislike of these two is about a larger issue. I feel like they exemplify a lot of what has destroyed this genre internally over the last decade or so and it make me sick to see them treated like the second coming of Doug Marland.

I can name a hundred problems I have with GH and this regime's approach, a slew of things I think have been lost in the changeover in terms of dialogue and characterization, but what I can say is that despite all of those issues, this is a better, more fun show that feels like the GH of old, with action, adventure and romance that gets me to watch everyday.

No offense, Vee, but that's why I'll always appreciate the work Claire Labine and Wendy Riche did for this show, because they proved you could have a "good GH" that didn't have to be a throwback to the days of weather machines and Aztec princesses.

Oh, and thank you, marceline. :)

Frank and Ron shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as James E. Reilly, let alone Douglas Marland.

It was a montage in the tradition of all of JFP's, just that Rie Sinclair didn't sing the song. And it didn't feature Carly.

That makes it even worse. Unless your name is Shelley Curtis and you're working on a show called DAYS OF OUR LIVES, you should not be doing musical montages. Just stop it, please.

The montages were one of the few things I liked about JFP. I guess it's a personal taste thing of mine. I always liked that "One Tree Hill" closed with a music montage every week, though I haven't seen recent seasons.

Look, I think FV & RC have proven to be a bad fit for GH, but I'm only super familiar with JFP & BG's GH . . . but I am seriously failing to see how any of this is any worse than what we've been getting since I started watching in '00. Blows my mind that this is being criticized mercilessly when we all sat through the biotoxin spheres.

Don't get me wrong: I thought JFP & BG's GH was a steaming pile, too. I just refuse to hop aboard the Cartini love train. Is their GH worse than JFP and BG's GH? Maybe not. (Is it better? Maybe not, lol.) But "not worse than," or even "marginally better than," is not good enough for me, especially when I know GH could do, and has done, better than either Frank and Ron or Bob and Jill. Either bring it or take it back home.

What always gets me is the idea that they somehow respect or understand GH better than Guza. It's the same show, the only difference is a different set of flaccid dicks passed off as leading men.

Frank and Ron might as well pull a GUIDING LIGHT, magically relocate everyone to Llanview without explanation, and just call it a day.

Oh, I loved their era. I grew up on it. But they also had their share of adventures and action - and their share of duds.

I would not put this era anywhere near that caliber of quality. There's a lot of crap. But I do think it is a damn sight better for a larger, wider audience than GH has been in years and years, it brings a lot of spirit back to the show, and it changes the framework and perspective that GH has been allowed to exist within since the year 2002 or so. That is very important. GH looks like something different than it has in years. It looks alive.
