Members edgeofnik
B&B STILL outperformed DAYS in gains - that is the story of 2012. I have DAYS keeps it up, but I remember a couple of years ago when DAYS was on fire and then crashed and burned. The most important thing for DAYS is to stay steady. Big swings up and down are not good. Consistency is important. Annual reboots are ridiculous. Let's hope this one sticks.
Members Soapsuds
Great ratings for Days. The Gabi/Will sex was the highest of the week...ewwwww...more than the Will/Sonny kiss...hmmmmmmmm...
Members OldGHFan
It doesn't look too good for GH. I can only speak for myself, but this show is not holding my attention. It's still the same old General Mobspital with added OLTLers. It's been months since Cartini took over and while I think they are better than Guza, the show is not must-see TV - and it needs to be. Something needs to change ASAP or you can kiss GH goodbye after it's 50th anniversary.
Members rhinohide
Well it's changing. I mean Burton's exit is a pretty big change. Ratings should Soar! Right? I just hope Days keeps rising September 10 forward. Cartini's work started airing in February I think and people kept saying they were saviors because The Rev disaster blew such huge chunks they were cancelled instead of GH. We kept hearing it takes more time to turn things around. Days doesn't seem to need so much time.
Members BadAddiction
I think it's way too early to declare Days out of the woods. Yes, it was good the first two weeks immediately following its return from the two week Olympic hiatus, because there was a lot of action and movement, but last week it was back to being boring as heck. I've never been a fan of the younger set on any soap, but if one is exciting and stands out, I will admit it, but to me even Days' young set is boring. Once again, I felt like I was watching my grandma's soap. Days still doesn't feel like a soap set in the 21st century.
Members frequentsoapfan
GH did horrible which is even worse since that time last year East Coast had an earthquake and a hurricane.
Members rhinohide
That may very well be true. Maybe that's why even after having not watched the show in years I tuned in and it still felt like Days. I found it remarkable that the characters I once knew are still recognizable after all these years. So unlike GH.
Members Gray Bunny
Days is definitely like an old glove that just fits right, year after year, especially since they've added more familiar faces in the past year. It's just too bad the stories for the most part are not fresh or can't-miss. It's too slow 'n sleepy. Hopefully the pace will continue to be quicker, unlike this past year. I can see why B&B is still riding high. Yes, the Hope/Liam/Steffy story is endless, but the show overall feels fresh, upbeat, fast-paced, and it being a half-hour format only helps them all the more in this day 'n age of so little time and so little attention spans. I know this has probably been discussed before, but having really looked at the numbers today, it really is amazing how Y&R has 4.5 million viewers, but only 850,000 of them are females aged 18-49. They really do have a huge older audience, all the more reason to cater to them (keep and USE the over 40--- okay, 50--- castmembers) and drive up sales of motorized wheelchairs and Activia yogurt. But since they receive more male viewers overall (1 million) vs. the target female demo, shouldn't they also promote razor blades, Viagra, and other male-oriented ads? (Hell, they might already do this, I just FF thru it all anyhow)
