Y&R: MAB OUT! Hamner OUT! JFP IN! Griffith IN! Sheffer UNKNOWN!

Someone here used to do very detailed and wonderful interviews with soap personnel. One of those people was Sally. Sally was very candid about her thoughts on LML and backstage Y&R at the time she almost returned to the show (2005 or 2006). She apparently was more candid than she realized, because that interview disappeared, and the poster said they would never be doing interviews again, as they were very upset about the experience. It really pissed me off, and still does.

MAB was good in her first year. I am sorry that the last Bell link to the show is gone. And yet Sheffer is still wheeling around CBS in his mobility scooter? For shame. He's a BIG part of the problem with Y&R.

MS is here to stay. She (and CLB) are very good at "making friends" and winning over the right kind of people. Plus JFP isn't stupid. Phyllis is to Y&R what Carly was to GH under her tenure.

CBS and Sony now have near full control. And they want to ABC-fy this show completely. No offense ABCD fans. I loved GH for years but I don't want Y&R to be like one of those ABC network shows. I want it to retain it's own identity, flawed as that may be currently. Sony seems to be bringing on their pals and it is going to be a hot tranny mess that makes the hiring of LML look minuscule in comparison.

Braun chose to leave when Guza and JFP went to SJB to ask her to reprise her role. SJB turned them down but TB decided to leave on her own terms rather than stick around to be fired. Maybe she also found out that they had offered the role to LW.

Perhaps Mo asked them to get back SJB?

Tamra quit because Mo, basically. Afte the fiasco of him not wanting to work with her then him demanding her pairing with King end because he wanted to work with her again. Plus, various other issues. She refused to even enter talks, she just told them she was leaving.

They asked Brown to return, who did not want to. They tried to get Wright but GL wouldnt let her go. They did auditions and Mo picked Bransford (Sarah Buxton and Galen Gearings wife Jenna also read, they were going for a very different Carly thats for sure). She wasnt working, Wright quit GL to come to GH.

When Braun was asked to return last fall, its rumored she didnt because she would have story with Mo.

Sarah brown wasn't run off by Bernard. She has made that clear many times. She made a decision to leave a year before her contract was up. The show still believed they could resign her. They would have given into must about anything because Carly at the time was the rising star and became the leading lady she did under Brown.when she came back, she was guaranteed she would work with the A listers on the show which was what she wanted.

Braun was a diff story. Her Carly took a good 6 months to work and it was Bernard who convinced her to play the role as it worked for her rather than Sarahs version.. They had intended on only keeping her a short time because they planned on killing Carly off. It was Bernard who went to bat for her and the character. And I'm sure she was in negotiations to stay but because of the BS with Bernard wanting Carly and Sonny back and her not getting to work with King longer term, she was unhappy and would only stay if they gave her fresh material. They went behind her back at that time to try and get Sarah back. She found out and cut off negotiations.

Phelps coming to Y&R should be scary, yet I feel no concern either. We know who Phelps is--a good producer with a nasty reputation that haunts her to this day, namely Frankie Frame's ghost. Paul Rauch already did a hatchet job here at Y&R, and unlike MAB I don't believe JFP will pretend who she is. Still it's inexcusable if she was to green-light a serial killer story to kill off vets.

Per Griffith's return I meant to comment on it I remember back in '08 after his fallout with MAB the show did get even better, but I didn't think the spring of '08 was all that terrible. Boring yes, silly yes especially with Victor/Sabrina and the Wallingford debacle but still miles ahead of anything Latham wrote in 2007.

Regarding Morina yes I do remember that lovely interview and the controversy behind it, too bad its gone although I do recall the details of it vividly. I know Morina was a Bell protege back in the 80s and saw her work at Days which had some mixed results. Anthony still directs the show right?
