While CRASH was good....it certainly is out of it's league IMO with movies like GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK, CAPOTE and BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.

CRASH will not win the Oscar, their win at SAG was NOT a Best Picture win, it was a Ensemble Cast win and CRASH was predicted to win there because it truly is an ensemble piece.

I thought GOOD NIGHT, GOOD LUCK was sensational - one of the best movies I've ever seen!

Hopefully, George Clooney will win Best Original Screenplay!

As for the other awards, I think it's Brokeback Mountain's year for Best Picture, Phillip Seymour Hoffman will win Best Actor, and Reese will snag the Best Actress trophy. :DB)

I think Cate Blanchett is better than the lot of them, but unfortunatelly she's not nominated this year....hopefully she's at this year's Oscars to present the BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR award(because she won last year). :DB)

I haven't seen Brokeback Mountain.....is it really that good?

It's gonna be weird to see them perform "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" at the Oscars. LOL! I wonder how they'll deal with some of the the lyrics?

Artist: Terrence Howard (DJay) Feat. Taraji P. Henson (Shug) Lyrics

Song: It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp Lyrics

[Chorus 2X: Shug - singing] + (Djay)

You know it's hard out here for a pimp (you ain't knowin)

When he tryin to get this money for the rent (you ain't knowin)

For the Cadillacs and gas money spent (you ain't knowin)

[1] Because a whole lot of !@#$%^&*]es talkin [!@#$%^&*] (you ain't knowin)

[2] Will have a whole lot of !@#$%^&*]es talkin [!@#$%^&*] (you ain't knowin)

[Djay]

In my eyes I done seen some crazy thangs in the streets

Gotta couple hoes workin on the changes for me

But I gotta keep my game tight like Kobe on game night

Like takin from a ho don't know no better, I know that ain't right

Done seen people killed, done seen people deal

Done seen people live in poverty with no meals

It's fucked up where I live, but that's just how it is

It might be new to you, but it's been like this for years

It's blood sweat and tears when it come down to this [!@#$%^&*]

I'm tryin to get rich 'fore I leave up out this !@#$%^&*]

I'm tryin to have thangs but it's hard fo' a pimp

But I'm prayin and I'm hopin to God I don't slip, yeah

[Chorus]

[Djay]

Man it seems like I'm duckin dodgin bullets everyday

Niggaz hatin on me cause I got, hoes on the tray

But I gotta stay paid, gotta stay above water

Couldn't keep up with my hoes, that's when [!@#$%^&*] got harder

North Memphis where I'm from, I'm 7th Street bound

Where niggaz all the time end up lost and never found

Man these girls think we prove thangs, leave a big head

They come hopin every night, they don't end up bein dead

Wait I got a snow bunny, and a black girl too

You pay the right price and they'll both do you

That's the way the game goes, gotta keep it strictly pimpin

Gotta have my hustle tight, makin change off these women, yeah

[Chorus]

    • I found the reference in the AWHP synopses -- it was 1995 but not directly related to the loanshark.

    • One of the dumbest situations (Lando) ever. What audience member is going to invest in a storyline with a recast they don't like and a triangle where one character is short-term? It bombed as it should have done. So much of JFP's tenure just reeks of desperation. I don't get how someone could produce SB (which did have flaws but was often brilliant) but make so many terrible mistakes at GL.   I still think JFP would have worked better as a director and music supervisor. Her music work at SB was top notch.  It just seems that Rea was minimized during JFP's tenure because I can't imagine her okaying so many of these casting choices.

    • We see the same with GH, where Mark Teschner, the casting director, reportedly has less say since Frank Valentini took over. Some producers want to take over every aspect of their shows.  I think Lando may have been a CBS push.
    • No idea but she won Emmys & she was the Casting Director at the same time for both ATWT & GL. She hired Lisa Brown with no job for her. Then Marland made Brown his muse so he created both Iva & Nola for her. But, I think we know that Jill does what Jill wants.
    • I did notice a decline in the quality of the performers being cast once Betty R vacated/retired from her position. We would have been spared from the nightmares of some of the castings that dominated the show in the last decade or so of the soap. JFP was an example of someone, no matter the gender, who had no business being in the position they were in.
    • If Betty Rea was the casting director, why was so much of GL during JFP's reign cast by her? Walker, Deas, Crampton, Lando, etc. JFP takes credit for Dusay as well. What is the point of having a casting director, if you don't let her do her job? What happened when Rea left?
    • So much on here slips my mind but this is the first I remember hearing of Peterson's passing. Very sad. Nell was a thankless role, clearly set up for a cheating storyline with Frank, but Peterson did her best.  Betty Rea Rea was the casting director for the soap opera “Guiding Light” from 1970 to 1996 and simultaneously the casting director for “As the World Turns” from 1979 to 1983.
