It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out people are sick and tired of Sonny, Carly, Jason and Sam. How many years have people been saying this? At least a decade. And yet TPTB expect a different result with the main focus on the same dam# people.

All soaps feature the same characters over and over. I don't think that is why GH ratings is bad.

I agree. The other soaps are not doing well, and there's no Sonny/Carly/Jason. Besides the outside factors, the show is poorly written! We have gone from bad (Guza) to worse (Wolf) to f##king tragic (Cartooni). If ABC were interested in GH, there would be hope that the show could be good again, but that ship has sailed.
