I want to ask the reverse. What characters on soaps long passed their expiration date and should have been cut loose rather then given tenure? I want to open this up to all soaps, past and continuing. I think we have plenty of material to choose from. General Hospital Carly - I would rather her have just been locked up in Shady Brooke rather then have LW in the role and shrieking for the past 7 years is it? She ran her course as soon as TB left and Carly hasn't really had a strong role outside of the mob world anyway. She should have just been sent off to Shady Brooke and left there after Bransford left. Sonny - It's hard to believe that this guy was once likable back in the 90's but since then he has just immersed the show in mob storyline after mob storyline much to the detriment of the show. I think the only way GH could survive is if they kill Sonny and ditch the mob scene quick. Dante - A character who has been dead on arrival as far as I am concern and who serves no practical use for. Olivia - Same as her son above. They introduced Kate/Connie and that was enough, there didn't need to be three other characters attached to Sonny's Bensonhurt days. All My Children Ryan - Should never have come back in 2003. Zach - Should have left with Maria when Eva La Rue left. Kendell - Should have went to jail protecting Bianca for killing Micheal Cambias Greenlee - Should have died along with Leo or she should have left after grieving for her Juan Pablo and Carlos were an insult to her character. Babe - Should have been killed off during the Satin Slayer storyline in February of 07' she didn't have any real storyline after that one. Amanda - What was her purpose other then to bring Kate Collins along every other sweeps period? Julia - Why bring her back if she wasn't going to do anything? Di - Had no purpose other then to be a red herring for Dixie. I'm sorry but Grady should've been killed the night that he killed Tammy, and I hate that he ended up staying longer than necessary and even bringing along his scummy brother, who got latched onto poor Mel in the end. The Ciccones on As the World Turns. Hated Liberty & Janet from day one and hated that when finally Katie and Brad were given a shot, here comes stupid Janet and Liberty. Loved Julie & Meredith and felt they should've been cast in other roles with ties to the show but Janet and Liberty REALLY over stayed their welcome and ended up eating the damn show the last 2-3 years. I felt that it should've been a short arc with Janet faking that Liberty was her daughter, Brad believing it and Katie proving it was false with both ladies exiting shortly after. Just when she busted up one coupling I like, she had to go screw up my favorite coupling, CarJack, prolonging their reunion till the end of the series where it was rushed and sloppy as h*ll. Daisy on Y&R. Even though I want to forget the entire "Sarah Smythe" arc, Daisy should've been sprayed with bullets via firing squad but is still plaguing our screen. The Ford Brothers on OLTL. After Ford/Langston affair was revealed, Ford should've just exited shortly after, but just like the Foley Bros. he had to have a family soon follow. Sad thing is that I like David Gregory, Nic Robuck, and Lenny Platt was ok. IDK why they didn't cast David as CJ Roberts, Nic as Frankie Holden, and make Lenny a SORAS Zane Buchanan. She took a nursing job out of town. Her last scenes were with Stuart at the boarding house (and if those ever show up anywhere someone let me know). Members AllMyDaysatGH Posted April 21, 2012 Members Share Posted April 21, 2012 Marissa Chandler on AMC - she was a boring disaster from the start! She overstayed her welcome. I couldn't believe how they literally tried to make her the next Babe by making her Babe's twin and getting involved with JR. The only times I liked her were when she was up against Annie and getting slayed every time. It helped that she was in Kreizman and Swajeski's most successful (IMO) story - The Quad! Brittany Allen was a decent but boring Actress. K&S shouldn't have even bothered replacing her with a new Actress. The character should've just left & that was it!
