Rank the Network Daytime Non-Soap Programming

Here's a chance for you to rank the network daytime non-soap programming in terms of its current quality. Here's where I would rank each of the shows:

#1 - TPIR: Initially Drew Carey was a terrible host. However, he has improved greatly over the past year or two (though he still is inferior to Barker). Today's TPIR is not only enjoyable, but can be quite entertaining at times. Thankfully, the cosmetic changes to the show have not been nearly as drastic as I feared.

#2 - LMAD: Wayne Brady makes for a good host, and the fact that this show lasts for an hour is actually a positive thing (since the show would be in constant rush mode if it was 30 minutes long). LMAD also has a lot of fun "mini-games." The only major downside this show has is its very low budget.

#3 - The Chew: This show can be boring at times, but it can also be fun to watch as well. I think putting a cooking show on daytime TV was a neat idea, and nothing I have seen on The Chew has been as dreadful as AMC was in its last several years.

#4 - The Talk: Despite replacing my beloved ATWT, The Talk is not the worst show ever. Though we certainly didn't need another gabfest, this show actually serves as a refreshing alternative to the overly political The View. By far the worst part about The Talk is the horrendous Julie Chen.

#5 - The View: This show is only worth watching when they actually have a guest on that I really want to see. Otherwise, all it is is a bunch of shouting and politically biased discussion. (If the show was politically biased in favor of the conservatives, I'd only dislike it a tiny bit less.)

#6 - The Revolution: This show is much too boring most of the time (though there is an occasional interesting segment). Still, there have been far worse television shows, some of which have been soaps.

The Talk: I love it. The girls have a great chem on screeen and the discussion flows without yelling or demeaning each other. The guests are usually people i like and again the discussion just flows. The set is also very nice and inviting.

The Chew: I dont love it, but I watch it 1-2 times a week. I have tried several recepies and like them all. I really like Michael and Daphanie.

Steve Wilkos: Hes hot, his gusts are crazy and entertain me.

Judge Judy. Shes Judge Judy, need I say more?

The View: I love Elizabeth, and shes the only reason i watch when I do watch.

The only Daytime non-soap shows I watch are Live! With Kelly, Anderson, and sometimes The Talk. I really recommend Anderson Cooper's talk show to anyone. I find it refreshing, compelling & entertaining. The other day he did a show where he confronted this guy who was the webmaster of an STD website and he totally lost his cool with the guy and called him a "waste of breath" LMAO.

Anytime I watch The Talk I find it pretty enjoyable

I alternate between The Chew and Y&R/B&B depending on my wonky television reception on the TV I have to use at that time. I must say, I do not hate The Chew at all, really. Though I think DO is the weakest link. I am a sucker for food. And no, I am not fat IRL.

I never ever watched The Talk when One Life was still Living, but I do in fact watch it now. That, or a Wendy Williams rerun that airs on my local MyNetwork station. I cannot stand The Revolution, though I did watch a few weeks ago when a friend of mine was modeling in a segment. Nate Berkus, how is he even still on? Seriously, I thought he was canned last season. But yeah, I kind of enjoy The Talk ladies and none of them remotely get on my nerves like any of the ladies on The View.

I also enjoy Anderson Cooper when I'm particularly interested in the days's subject. I'm glad I watched the rather enjoyable Julianne Moore interview he did last week and resisted the urge to switch the show that always puts me in a good mood... MAURY!

The View I will give credit in that they sometimes get interesting guests (like that girl Rush Limbaugh attacked) and it has been trainwreck TV depending on whether Star Jones or Rosie O'Donnel were hosting, but what does The Talk offer? Do they even get real guests? I know if Whoopie and Bill O'Reilly exchange barbs on The View it will show up in news sites and I will catch it at The Huffington Post, but does anyone outside of those who watch it even know who the hosts of The Talk are or that it even exists?

Lets Make A Deal I have never seen with the new host. I have no use for TPIR since coma victim Drew Carey took over hosting duties. Is he actually even alive? It was tough to tell the last time I took a look. My general impression is that comedians don't make the best hosts, and I doubt the Wayne Brady is anywhere near as good as Monty Hall.

a more buzzworthy show does not equate to a better, or even more entertaining show.

its all screaming, screeching and obsessing over reality tv there. the best part is def the hot topics. its not that i dislike the view, but i enjoy watching the talk much more.

When I'm in the States, I will have a cup of coffee over Today and watch the beginning of Live! With (Regis and) Kelly. Other than that, I will try to catch one of mah stories and Judge Judy. And possibly Anderson Cooper. Of course, back in the day I'd watch a 3pm soap then Oprah would come on at 4pm, LOL.

    • Interesting.  It seems to allude to that statement that Warren Burton made around that time about some AW actors getting special treatment.  I wonder who was resentful about not getting to go.
    • Good morning, boys!  I figured that it was time that our Gio was introduced into the hotness thread

@ranger1rg I even included a close up of his face for ya!
    • Under all of Madonna's social media today there is this wave of negative, toxic, absurd comments by Lady Gaga fans telling her how Gaga surpassed her in concert in Copacabana. I mean... Who the hell cares? Why are these fan communities so freaking toxic??? I'm sure Madonna doesn't care... But still. Have some respect for M. Leave her social media alone. Go cheer Gaga and be happy. Why come and spew hate on M??? Crazy world.
    • FYI, again, Ruth/Letitia is not in either of these 2 episodes. So that concludes the 4 episodes I had from Nov. 1983. I don't have the October episodes.
    • Eddie has begun uploading the 1990 episodes. I'm so happy about that. I was mindfully taking a break till there's plenty of episodes I can binge watch when I feel like it. Now that 1989 is complete... I can't wait to press play on February 1989 and resume where I left off.

Me when someone asks me to be proper and demure.
    • This is just a guess but I feel like the fact that they keep mentioning her dead husband is for a reason. We know Martin has a secret that likely involved someone dying. Martin's victim could be Alan which Leslie/Dana either knows about or finds out and she uses that to blackmail the family into letting her crimes slide.
    • Just thinking how the Ruth/Leticia guest spot really cemented how Days had changed. Stunt casting with a campy/comedy character in a 'wacky' storyline was something that a few years previously would have been completely out of place on Days (and most other soaps for that matter).
    • I am interested to see how they handle Leslie/Dana down the road. If she continues in this path, it would be unrealistic to have her around. Like other shows have done this with a 'villian' character and ended up with people looking stupid putting up with someone they detest. Another thought-could they be building up to a murder story? Maybe Les/Dan will be left in a coma and we will have a whodunit with several characters as suspect. It would also be a chance to redeem her I wonder how long the show will go w/o resorting to soap cliche stories-twins,switched at birth, murder mystery, long lost child etc
    • Yeah, Martin really did make me laugh when him and Smitty jumped up to drag Leslie out. I am interested in seeing how this fallout will impact his storyline as well. Especially since he is so protective regarding his family/family's image. I am interested in seeing how he will interact with Eva for the time being, they did have a warmer interaction earlier on once they met. But he seems to have doubts about her possibly being Ted's right now. I wonder how long it might take for him to come around with her. I could see the younger generation warming up to her quicker than the older ones. Though of course I think there will be anger/tension for a while regarding the reveal and her role in it. Perhaps Naomi/Chelsea will ease up on Eva first then eventually Martin/Kat might down the line. I really do love Nicole. I'm glad that DD is playing her. She really is the heart of the family and also agree the show. She is so easy to root for and I'm looking forward to seeing how things work out for her. I am enjoying the development of most of the characters on this show. I enjoy most of them including Bill with his trifling self lol. I do feel that Bill's love for his daughters is genuine and that gives him some depth. A few of the characters I don't care for that much (like Bill, Ashley, Vanessa). I wasn't too big on Andre at first, but I am warming up more to him as the actor is settling into the role. I like most of the characters on this show. Also, I am interested in seeing what happens if Eva indeed goes and lives with the new doctor that was introduced. I could see this adding another layer to her story, maybe she will become more vixen-ish, on what type of relationship they end up having. And/or maybe she will end up becoming more hardened as she deals with being an outcast, especially if she falls out with Leslie as well. I think that AM will do a good job of showcasing the different layers of this character as she deals with the fallout of the affair/paternity reveal.
