Members R Sinclair
THANK YOU! I couldn't put my finger on it. For years, I was wondering what it was about this dude's writing that irked me. I thought it was the camp. I thought it was the cliched "bad guy/girl goes psycho with a gun at the end of the storyline" thing. NO! It's the fact that a lot of that stuff resembled bad fanfic! I see it, now. I totally see exactly how that description fits!
Members Khan
Frankly, the ONLY thing separating Ron Carlivati from a lot of us is the fact that he had Claire Labine to help him break into the business. Otherwise, he'd be no different peddling his wares on boards such as this one with the rest of us yahoos.
Members Soapsuds
So the key is for you to get Claire Labine to read your work.
Members Khan
Don't forget: she did hire Judith Pinsker after reading her fan letter.
Members dragonflies
Apparantly they did it, so they get FH & TR. I'm upset that Robin go NO scenes with Robert before her death. They could used that two months to build up to her death, and let Robin spend time with BOTH of her parents
Members JaneAusten
I don' think getting TR or FH had a thing to do with timing Robins death. They wanted her death, the deaths of the others, and the arrivals of the OLTL folks and a few vets to coincide with St Ron arriving and to give him a ratings boost. Members dragonflies
That's the malarky that's been going around, not sure if it came from Cartini or not, but it was moved up two months for a reason, and that's been said why, so they could get FH & TR
Members dragonflies
Here's a good article by Marc Berman at tv media insights. Basically saying that what's not working on GH needs to be scrapped & start fresh like Monty did years ago http://www.tvmediainsights.com/2012/03/general-hospital-can-this-show-be-saved/
Members JaneAusten
Did he cut and paste the stuff written by the Huffington Post writer? IA with him but some of the stuff if word for word
Members EricMontreal22
Exactly. The tone, for good and bad (more bad) was vastly different. You nev er knew whether to laugh or not, etc.
Members EricMontreal22
No kidding, someone should sue for plagiarism. I can't really blame RC/FV here--going back to the article, I'm not even sure if they would have had the power to drop Maurice B so early into their run. The situation is so different from back in Monty's day, the comparison doesn't seem fair. I also am not sure how sharp a change people saw two weeks into Monty's run--I know the change was major and fairly immediate, but with the soap format (as much as I agree with most of what was written) 2 weeks really is too short, unfortunately to judge a regime change. Members R Sinclair
To judge? Maybe. To criticize? Absolutely not. All because "it's only been two weeks" doesn't make what you put out during those two weeks immune from criticism. Especially if the product is questionable.
