time to merge Y&R and B&B?

Y&R is a red hot mess, and has been for quite awhile. B&B has it's ups and downs, but Brad Bell knows when he's veered off track and tries to make quick corrections. Maria, Hogan and Scott seem incapable of doing that. They don't seem to respond to how the fans feel, though Maria claims she does in every interview she gives. Personally, I think B&B is in much better shape than Y&R these days, which is probably a first. The show has a lot of talent behind the scenes, and their acting company has improved vastly during the past few years. Y&R as a lead-in is definitely hurting them these days, which is reflected in their ratings, but on some weeks B&B has still added viewers despite that. Makes you wonder what would happen if B&B were the lead-in to Y&R. I can't ever see merging the two shows, though.

Curious what your source is for this. It bothers me when posters write "I've heard..." and fail to site their source.

It would be silly to expect any poster to keep detailed records on articles cited. What, should Eric use footnotes? He is correct about the show dropping some; thus, there is no need to document.quote

We all read a lot of stuff, generally have good memories and owe each other the benefit of the doubt.

No one's asking for "detailed records." Simply where the information came from. For example, "I've heard..." could be followed by "from a friend who works for DAYS that..." That helps the reader of the post put the comment into context, and how much weight to give it. Opinions are fine. State them as such. But if you're trying to make a point based on a particular source, name it, is all I'm saying. Why get so defensive?

I just read the intro and first chapter and I'm already hooked. I know she had a co-author, but I can tell Kim is a firecracker and I'd love to have wine with her and talk sh!t haha. It makes reading the book pretty easy and entertaining. Intro - I had no idea she got a DUI! She shared 3 bottles of wine with a friend at dinner one night in LA, got in her car, was pulled over and thrown in jail overnight.  She admitted it wasn't her first time drinking and driving, but learned a valuable lesson that night. Out of the gate, she's not holding back or hiding anything. Chapter 1 - the announcement that GL was being cancelled. She was driving to Peapack and got a call from Bradley Cole who told her the news. First, that's BS that as one of the faces of GL, you hear the big news from a fellow co-star on your way to work. Granted, the "suits" were traveling to Peapack that day to tell the cast and crew, but still, seems icky. Ironically the news came on April Fools Day. Apparently that was the last day the network could decide whether to cancel or renew, but to Kim's point, couldn't they just pick the day before to avoid the callousness of the 'holiday'. Obviously a sad day in GL history. I thought it was funny, she said the one thing she thought of is "what would Susan Lucci do" in this situation, post-cancellation. And of course she said she'd "find something to hawk on the Home Shopping Network"  You all would know better than me, but part of the title of her book is "seven husbands" and in her intro, she uses Reva's full name: Reva Shayne-Lewis-Lewis-Spaulding-Lewis-Winslow-Cooper-Lewis-Lewis-O'Neill.  However, in the first chapter, she said Bradley Cole was "her 8th (or was it 9th?) husband". Well, Kim, that already contradicts the title of your book and your character's name you touted.

    • I was incredibly moved by these scenes, especially Peter's performance. It felt so tender and real, especially when you remember Bo just got out of a years-long coma and wasn't going to be able to put up a front. You're reminded of how long these legends have populated the show when you have a 70 year old man grieving men who were almost 90 or 100, but Bo's response to Victor's death was a poignant reminder of how fresh these wounds are no matter your age. Normally these types of moments don't even make it in soap episodes in recent decades as they are seen as too boring. The more somber moments being balanced by Bo meeting his grandchildren was also lovely.  And the scene where Bo forgave Shawn may be the only time I've been in lock with Brandon Beemer's take on the part.  There's a certain element of suffocation with soaps, as shown here, when you remember so many of the kids are named after long dead relatives, or when they grew up, were paired with the kids of other longtime characters. That aspect always makes me yearn for new blood (new blood that doesn't suck, anyway), but there are other moments, like those with Bo, which make me appreciate all the history the show has.
    • A funny scene, Roger and Sonni go out to eat, at that place that had a colonial theme (I love when soaps have very specific places to eat..I hated the diners on GL, ATWT and AW) and this is just after Rog came back and Sonni hit the headlines and the waitress scremes.."Oh, Roger Thorpe, and YOUR...please dont' hurt me..." and they are all like, "Hey, were just hungry!" (most soaps now have someone go on a murder spree and the rest of the cast and extras look like they havent heard about it."
