This version of Lucy is the one I know a number of people, like Michael Logan, preferred. By the time I got into GH Lucy was with Kevin and was much tamer. I can see why many loved this Lucy though, and got enjoyment out of her being knocked back down to Earth (with the show counting on this so much they even play the Wicked Witch of the West music!). Are there any sites that have photos of each of the Quartermaine mansion design or set changes over the decades? The Loving blog does this for various sets, which is a big help. I was so used to the '90s/'00s version, I didn't realize how different the design can get, especially early on. I'm glad Monica and Lucy had this moment (with Scott) when Gail died. Better Lucy writing than some of what I've seen of her over the last decade.

The fairly detailed dedicated GH wiki might have it. They keep astonishingly close track of those locations.

They did have a lot of photos. They really do show how much smaller and drabber everything looks now. Even if they had to cut down for budget reasons I'm not sure why everything is in grey. I hope they can change that someday.

It's not nearly as bad with the gray paint on everything as it was in the early-mid 2010s. I do think the Q mansion looks better than it did a while ago, but I'm still not a fan of the more monochrome color scheme. I do wish they'd use the original drawing/sitting room or whatever more often vs. the Bed Bath & Beyond-looking rooms.

We do seem to see more rooms than we used to, which is nice (if only the rooms didn't all look so samey).
January 16, 2025Jan 16 Member The current mansion set is a very modern-looking set, which I feel like is what I would imagine Monica would do, having watched HGTV in all of her downtime. Does it give McMansion? Yes. Is it a horrible redesign? No. And like @Vee stated, at least it wasn't the drab grey we were stuck with when Valentini and co. came into down and attacked the Metro Court/Carly's old house was forced to take on. That was such a bad era... not to mention, the One Life yellow cameras.
January 16, 2025Jan 16 Member I hate that they never reunited Monica with any of her biological relatives (other than Lorena Sharpe, I think, who turned out to be so inconsequential to the show). I think it would've been nice if she had encountered a long-lost sibling or even one of her parents at some point.

January 16, 2025Jan 16 Member Poor Alan. He tried so hard for so long to show Monica that he (and not Rick Webber) was the man for her.

It's not the gun-metal gray of the 2010s but it's pretty sterile. The parlor/sitting room/whatever from the pat should also be used again much more.

I mean, Elizabeth's Brownstone was pretty nice until they went to Y&R, borrowed the blue they painted the Chancellor Estate for 2.5 seconds and ruined it, and then used it again for the Miller & Davis office. Like, that has less colour than what the Q set does, and yet... feels warmer and more comfy cosy than what the show has right now. It's all about the accents and it feels like [most] sets are missing that. I'll say it: Greystone Manor feels more... like what the Q mansion should look like than it does. Even this feels warmer and richer. Like, ugh.
January 16, 2025Jan 16 Member The problem with a lot of sets today - not just on GH, but on TV, in general - is that they don't reveal anything about the person or persons who live there. They're just Wayfair showrooms for actors to use, so they don't have scenes in front of bare walls (which would be an improvement, AFAIC, lol).
