Lucy and Laura meet for the first time 30 years ago. Nice to see two women with a lover in common not have immediate animosity.

Scott leaves the show 2 episodes later. Was Kin planning on leaving before Luke and Laura returned or was this his exit a reaction to their return?

I wonder.  Because Scott and Lucy were two characters that Wendy really focused on before Labine arrived.  I’m not sure if he was just burnt out (she tried to convince Tristan to stay, and everyone was run down during Monty’s second stint).  I know JE left because she and Wendy were not in agreement with storylines happening with Tracy, specifically her being vocally anti-choice.  Which apparently carried over for Riche’s entire tenure except for a guest spot ABC wanted for the relaunch of The City.  Jane wasn’t welcome back until JFP.

Was it part of Scotty's apartment when he and Lucy were roommates? After she was done with Tony and before Alan?

ETA: Never mind, earlier posters say it was part of the Katherine Delafield cottage set from 1988-89. I guess they just photographed Lynn and Kin there because it was available. It's better than my first thought, which was that this was Lucy's apartment from 1986, which presumably had already been scrapped as a set.

IIRC Scott left town after getting his heart broken by Katherine's con re: Dominique, and Lucy exposing Katherine at her and Scott's wedding in late late '93, like November or December, like right at the same time L&L came back. (That Scott/Katherine romance happened way too fast after Dom IMO) I assumed Kin was going off to try primetime and movies again. I do remember Scott having a very good scene or two with Laura before that.

I never knew this. I do know they were pushing Scott and Lucy in story (not necessarily together) hard under Riche pre-Labine, when the show was flailing about trying to find anything that worked after Monty II, like Karen, Jagger, the new teens, Scott and Dominique, etc.

He left because the mob was after him and Serena for Domonique's money. In the following episodes after the one I posted they both get kidnapped, escape somehow and then Scott and Lucy have a heartfelt goodbye by Dominique's grave. They also finally name the baby, Serena, because it means "serenity" and that's what she brings them.

I don't remember that at all! I thought the 'hiding from bad guys' angle only came in when PC began. I didn't remember that mob element at all from their final scenes at the grave, I'll have to go back and rewatch. Was it Smith's organization or someone else? I thought he was preoccupied with Luke and Laura at that time.

They did have a nice adult conversation, and Laura went to the wedding that wasn’t IIRC.

Once upon a time I stumbled across an interview with Riche from early in her tenure and she alluded to the friction about that story turn and why Jane was leaving. Something along the lines of Jane’s personal beliefs limiting the drama of the character.  I recall reading an interview with Jane basically saying the same thing, that she felt Tracy would not have an issue with abortion.  I inferred that was why she wasn’t invited back during Riche’s tenure.  ABC asked for the short stint to drive interest in Tracy heading to The City.

I also remember Riche zeroing in on Scott and coming up with the Dominque dying story to bring some humanity to both Scott and Lucy.  Something about an angel dying in his arms to make him a better person.

I know the danger element existed before PC.  There is a great scene where Scott has sent Lucy either photos or a video of Serena to watch a year or two after they left , and she remarks that Scott had given Serena a haircut like his.  It’s funny and sad, which Lynn did really well back then.

It's an excellent scene, greatly improved by the length. I like that they took the time to really let us savor the range of emotions Lucy was feeling there: anxiousness, curiosity, pride, gentle annoyance, despair, love. Nice acting showcase for Lynn Herring, and Jon Lindstrom did well, too.

Thanks to AddieCate for uploading those GH episodes...I started her 1992 playlist to see how Jagger & Brenda started and am now starting 1993.  This show was so good in the early 1990s...I had no idea!

The music--

The way they used classics like Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" and Phil Collins' "Against All Odds," plus then contemporary jams like Charles & Eddies' "Would I Lie To You?" and PM Dawn's "I'd Die Without U," in scenes were perfect in elevating the moment and mood.

The comedy--

John Stamos making a cameo appearance as Scott, Dominique and Julia Barrett go to Hollywood was a riot.  Tracy Quartermain, Marco Dane, Paul Hornsby and Jenny Eckhert were so fun in their rivalry/fights.  Marco Dane was great with Lucy, too.  Brenda & Julia's sisters relationship was pitch-perfect and fun, too.

The suspense--

Bobby getting taken hostage, Felicia getting terrorized by Ryan and the emotional fall-out of her getting convicted/imprisoned.

The tragedy--

Dominique getting her terminal brain cancer diagnosis was so heartbreaking.  I didn't even really like the character before then, but the writing and acting won me over.

The unrequited romance--

Brenda & Jagger.  Antonio Sabato Jr was so fine in the early 1990s, which I knew ever since I saw him in Janet Jackson's best music video "Love Will Never Do (Without You)," but it is unbelievable how gorgeous he was!  The show really transplanted some of the most attractive character traits of Jagger onto Sonny and Jason in later years.  Jason kind of looked like a Ferengi back then with the big ears.

The sets--

Love all the exterior urban sets, to match how inter-connected the show's characters were to Kelly's, the Brownstone, the docks, the hotel/spa, etc.  The Ruby character being the heart of the show through Kelly's is perfect.

Does anyone know when/how/why Mac Scorpio lost his Australian accent?

I didn't know Brenda Barrett had a middle name:  "Brenda Marie" is what I hear Julia call her when she's pulling Brenda's hair and stopping her from taking photos of Jenny & Ned on the fun March 2, 1993 episode:

    • Thanks -- you're doing God's work The Gio reveal was everything I hoped for and more. GH got it right. Head to toe, GM is a stunning physical specimen.
    • I really wonder how they'll handle Netflix's usual long breaks between seasons. That girl is going to grow up fast... makes me wonder if this wouldn't have been a better fit for HBO Max considering they're leaning into a more broadcast style of production model with The Pitt.
    • I agree -- I didn't suspect Ted, either. I think a lot of people are giving themselves way too much credit in predicting Ted's problems

And can I have a different take on Ted here? Yes, he's made a huge mistake with this Leslie debacle, and yes, he has to suffer and pay for it. But does that make Ted a terrible human being? I don't think it does. He made a horrific mistake over 2 decades ago, and as far as we know, he's been a good husband and father since. As far as we know, he hasn't strayed or violated his marriage since. He didn't know that he fathered another child, and thought he "removed" Leslie from his life. I won't blame Nicole if she doesn't forgive him, but I also won't blame her if she decides what they have and what they've had more than makes up for what he did. Ted is getting dragged far more than Bill is on these boards, and I think Bill is MUCH worse as a husband and father. How many times did he cheat on Dani during their marriage? How many times did he do vile things in his role as fixer? How much did he hurt his daughters by screwing their friend and marrying her? With Keith Robinson coming in as Ted, maybe we'll see a character change in direction and we'll discover that Ted has many flaws and always had a dark side. For now, though, I'm inclined to both be angry with Ted for hurting his family while also sympathizing with him. I know what you mean, but I do think that was intentional. So much was going on in that episode, and I think they decided not to let Nicole's reaction be lost in all that. Nicole will get those scenes that you're asking for.
    • That was the original point of me sending you her 6 airdates, so now with those, and the link to the daily episode guide I've provided, that should help you more easily find the additional Ruth Buzzi scenes. I will always repeat myself when it comes to defending my data that I've taken decades to research and compile. But, as you pointed out in a recent post, I am kind, so at least I will do it with you in a kind way as opposed to the usual social media way most people do with just getting rude/nasty. That's not my style, as you correctly pointed out earlier this week, and never will be.  So, all is well!

    • Ambyr Michelle continues to be *that girl.* She’s just a star, period. Elevates every scene she’s in on the sheer strength of her emotional realism and charisma. Can sell any dialogue. I wish the show veered away from the B&B-style scripting. TMG/Leslie’s tirade stood out, I suppose, but she’s getting a bit mustache-twirly. And I wish DD had more to do in that episode than stand and sob.
    • Well, that was down to CBS being weak and not being willing to just pulling the plug entirely. They didn't want to commit to cancelling the show in case they needed it for their schedule basically; plus they kept showing that they were willing to make cuts if needed to be.
    • I'm sorry but clearly what I've said is not satisfactory to you. I have now read what you have to say, twice. As it happens, my interest at this point is looking at other mislabeled files to find this other Ruth Buzzi content. I do not see any point to each of us repeating ourselves, so I will leave it here.
    • It seemed to be your intent. coming into a thread I started and making multiple posts saying my data was wrong. In the next paragraph you say "Of course, I was suspicious from the very first instance where what I saw & heard did not agree with what it should have.  I'm very glad to know why." That certainly didn't stop you from immediately saying the data was wrong, until I provided additional receipts. Why did you not check the daily episode guide (for instance, this one for the 1980's) I posted for the world to see for exactly this reason...to help confirm airdates: http://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/days-daily-summaries-1980-1989-t15361.html? That is what you should be checking BEFORE you make any posts in the future like this, trying to suggest something from my data is incorrect. You could have also messaged me and asked me why your dates weren't adding up with what the correct data is. I would have fast forwarded through that video you posted, spotted Roman and Hope and immediately have told you that was the 11/1/83 episode.
    • Jason, just let me say that it was not my intent to any way impugn any of your data  or research. I'm very sorry if it came out that way. Obviously the person I got these 4 November episodes from has mislabeled files, multiples, which I was certainly unaware of.  When I am editing it is all about what I see & hear. Later, I find time for greater reflection.  Of course, I was suspicious from the very first instance where what I saw & heard did not agree with what it should have.  I'm very glad to know why.  If you find you are no longer interested in the edit, that is fine. I have no ego in this. I did it only to share it.
    • I feel like Vernon and Anita need to not be hypocrites and try and take the heat off Bill in this case. It's clear that the family used him as a fixer and especially knowing he helped with Martin's situation, they need to either be quiet or support him. BTW...with Vanessa being in the hospital for food poisoning, am I the only one who thought Shanice was gonna say she's pregnant or had an STD? The only reason I say STD is because she hasn't had any memorable sex partners, but I definitely don't believe she just had food poisoning.
