Members SFK
They could get a lot of cheap new talent to round out the cast if need be and I think the best way to go about that is by aging/recasting familiar characters like those you mentioned. Maria's kids for example may appeal to long-term viewers in a way that rando made-up relatives like Asher will not. Plus Maddie and Sam leave the door open for Eva LaRue. I would also highly recommend bringing Petey and even Jamie back, reCassie as well, and regardless of the show's current stance, there is room for Frankie's son William (think Rex and Shane in terms of age). Members EricMontreal22
R Sinclair I didn't mean to bitch at you--I guess we're arguing different issues. For 20 years after she made that business decision it was NOT a bad business decision.
Members marceline
Wouldn't it be hysterical if Oprah was one of Prospect Park's backers?
Members JackPeyton
If they get non union writers/directors/etc i doubt union actors would be willing, or able, to do it.
Members EricMontreal22
Why would a production company that has handled Royal Pains go non union?
Members JackPeyton
because this is online, not tv. ya never know.
Members EricMontreal22
Ya these are soap actors... I think if the contracts consider that (and I assume they will) it'll be fine for a while....

Members DRW50
Why didn't they just call the article No Sh!t, Sherlock? I haven't seen anyone saying this will be easy, or that they will keep the amount of viewers they have.

Members marceline
All true but I like the fact that they mentioned Jon Stewart. Even though The Daily Show (TDS) broadcasts its clips on the TDS website they also show them on Hulu. Last year the deal with Hulu fell through and they stopped showing TDS and Colbert. People went berserk. Hulu finally added the content back about 2-3 months ago because of all the requests on both Hulu and Comedy Central to return it there. Obviously that's a different show with a different audience. But a big portion of that audience watches online. Enough that it made them change a business decision. Members DRW50
Good point, but even then they basically need to tell us this won't happen with soaps.
Members marceline
They can't. It's a brave new world. Or its the same old mismanaged chickenshit world just on the web. I can't wait to find out which.
Members DRW50
I don't know why but those "states the obvious" type articles passed off as great wisdom always get on my nerves.
Members John
Most of the new web shows are not covered fully by the union and union actors work on them thru waivers from their unions I could see something similar here or maybe AFTRA which currently covers daytime Drama will work something out with them as far as pay minimums, hours and such
