They were actors who didn't appear on the show, just a generic threesome representing stages of life and love, i.e., the bad boy, hot sex, and heartbreak; the good guy, romance, happiness and new life (baby). We had an old SOD where someone wrote in asking if it was Tina (Karen Witter) and they explained.

Okay, I'm going to pull a you and say, I just said that. :P J/K :D

It would have been a much more appropriate opening for Loving (that unveiled a very similar short-lived one a couple of years earlier):

In truth, it really did capture the spirit of Gottlieb's OLTL: moody, sleek, sophisticated, glamorous, romantic... a very lush (synthesized) theme and I think the filmed sequence is nice to look at and very au courant late night cable. But it wore out its welcome very quickly and seemed less and less of a fit as the years went by. It would have been perfect for a primetime special, like AW's Summer Desire opening:

I was in high school when the plans for the new Blue opening after this one was announced and I could hardly wait to see it, but now I look back on Satin Sheets (and your SFK dubbed it that online years ago ;) ) and nostalgically go  .
