I have a funny feeling it was a late in the day script, with latter episodes already numbered etc on scripts, so to wedge it in, they named it Part 2. Given the return from production shutdown, they may not have known exactly when episodes would air, so possibly numbered it this way to fit anywhere in the storyline on December 24. It didn't really tie into much else that was going on at the time other that Zende and Paris having eyes for each other.
