I know, another year and a half. Where has the time gone.

There is not a day where I don't feel sad that my grandma never lived to see the ending. She was the most hardcore fan you can imagine. All her pets had names from the show and she used to dress like Stephanie. Where has time gone... Indeed.

That's clever. She asks him if he is upset because of his brother. 🤣

You know you are big and a household name in Italy... When you start selling the cold medicines. It's so iconic. 😀

A percentage of soap opera fans on social media often seem misguided in their assumptions and can’t wait to post about it to incite and drum up support. With Bold, fans frequently claim that “Brad fired a specific actor” or “those two are feuding behind the scenes.” While there may have been justifiable terminations over the years - as is common with any employer - fans are not entitled to explanations about employment decisions. Reading or listening to hearsay and rumour doesn’t make it true. An actor’s employment is no different from anyone else’s, yet some fans are quick to assume negative reasons for cast departures rather than considering logical explanations, such as an actor choosing to leave.

For example, when Matthew Atkinson left the show in July 2024, some fans jumped to conclusions, insisting that Brad “fired him” and how dare he “break up Thomas and Hope.” However, it’s reasonable to conclude that Matthew made a personal decision to step away to focus on fatherhood. These fans consistently blame Brad when storylines or casting decisions don’t align with their preferences. The cast and crew have frequently described Brad as a supportive and excellent boss, and I believe this. If viewers dislike the show’s direction, they can choose not to watch.

I don't see a reason for us to get petty with this. I plan to continue being polite, since I've always loved your contributions to the topic. The only thing I had an issue with about your comment is how you, maybe unintentionally... made it seem like I've made a general comment that there should always be drama with actors leaving. I can try to call Bobbie Eakes and Bradley Bell and organize a press conference where I'm sure you'll get facts about what happened... I'll try... But I doubt it will happen.

I'm not being petty, and you are reading way too much into comments made like you know my intent. You spoke like you knew facts, you even capitalised it for emphasis. You can speculate all you like, the same way I can call it out as my view that it's speculation and not fact at all. If it was fact, you'd have had interview comments from Bobbie Eakes, and even then it's her side of things.

However, Bobbie and Bell recently spoke together at some event, and Bell said to her something like "you know Macy may still be alive?". That doesn't sound like Bobbie left on bad terms, does it, yet you alluded to some bad behind the scenes drama. I'm just not a fan of this kind of speculation without facts, as it's damaging and hurtful in my opinion, especially if not true at all.

Mmm yes, some people may say he is a great boss (especially those who are still getting paid)... but it's not all of them. Recently we heard from Hunter Tylo... how she was fired over the phone (she said she even cussed at him in reaction)... And we remember what happened to Krista Allen, who was let go after getting an Emmy nomination and felt incredibly confused. We have also heard from Ronn Moss how it was unbearable at the end.

So... there is more to the story than just making a general statement like that. But yes... of course... Brad may be an angel and they may all be lying. They may all be bitter that they got fired. Of course. I'm not a judge or a jury, but I can decide for myself. And I think the whole board pretty much knows my opinion. Sorry that it triggers some people.

But I'm used to it. ❤️

Again... I didn't say you were petty. I said I see no reason to "get petty". I'm starting to think you are not reading me correctly.

About that comment they made on some event - great if true... You are saying it as a fact and I'm going to believe you. But still doesn't change my mind. I've had problems with someone and then resolved it years later.

Still I don't think we need to get more deep in this argument. I respect your opinion about the situation concerning Macy. The only thing I don't like is the way you are alleging I'm doing something to harm someone or do damage. To who and what? I made a simple comment after I saw the chandelier split her head open and that was it. I still believe something was up and I remember fans talking to me about it through the years. I can't erase my memory to suit your version of things. I'm sorry.

I found this little article. I don't know what to make of it. If it's true... Then it confirms a lot of the things I was told through the years. The author is Dan Kroll. The founder of Soap Central.

I have heard a more spicy version of this from fans, but it's a similar story.

"Eakes learned of the casting call for Krystal and asked show execs to be let out of her contract. While under contract to The Bold and the Beautiful, Eakes would be barred from auditioning for another soap. Bell is said to have reluctantly agreed -- and even privately hoped that Eakes would not land the role on All My Children.

During a recent photo shoot of the entire B&B cast, Eakes was asked to leave. The request to have the actress leave halfway through the shoot caught many of her co-stars by surprise. The request was apparently made so that Eakes would not appear in publicity photos on the event that she exited the show."

Fascinating.  When Krista Allen was fired, they filmed her in all the publicity shots of the entire cast, and then immediately let her go

That would have come down to timing of events. Nobody is released without reason. Sometimes terminations are totally justified. Fans are quick to point fingers though - they do not know the facts, only the parties involved do.

I'm a bit surprised that Bobbie Eakes 2003 departure can still cause blood boiling on speculations when it is all perfectly documented in the press forever.

Macy returned in 2002. She was a major frontburner star for the next month. Then, Brad and CBS suddenly went all "let's grab some ABC stars" and hired Sydney Penny and Brian Gaskill. While most viewers immediately realized that the characters of Sam and Ozzy sucked and the actors were not able to excel their material, this was the direction B&B entered in fall 2003.

Brad therefore opted to write Macy into a coma to give the character a rest and focus on his new pets (remember: this is also when Adienne Frantz suddenly experienced backburner status for the first time ever after 6 years of 24/7 appearances...). Bobbie Eakes - based on her previous experience of being let go for storyline reasons in 2000 - or maybe it was her manager Michael Bruno who had ties to ABC soaps - then heard of the AMC casting for Krystal Carey. B&B was clear to Bobbie Eakes: either you stay or go recurring if you want to audition. She went to the audition in New York and the rest is history. Krystal Carey was a major unexpected career highlight for Bobbie Eakes and probably made her a ton of money. At least, it gave her wide recognition at the Emmys when they were still a thing. I don't think anyone, neither Bobbie Eakes nor Brad Bell, involved has hard feelings about the situation - except for us longtime viewers who loved Macy and the Spectras - and who hated the sudden way too soon departure of Macy. The death of Darlene Conley then terminated this part of the show which we all cherished so much - without Macy being present. A major disgrace. Yet, the original reason for Macy's absence is nothing unusual: employer and employee had different expectations, the employee found a better job elsewhere and left. Period. It's not one of those Hollywood vendettas.

Same for Krista Allen: I can't remember if they wanted to cut her salary orif she  simply disagreed on a storyline direction wiith the show. The actress (which I agree was a splendid Taylor recast) was unhappy with the show and opted to leave. She was not fired - she decided to move to Atlanta and did not want to play recurring or on a lesser episode guarantee. I can't remember any interview where she said such a thing of being fired.

Many fans at the time said she was photoshopped in. If you look closely, it doesn’t look like she’s really there.

She wasn’t fired. She just didn’t want to be recurring as offered to her, as she stated in her interview.

It’s a job like any other and she chose the door and new adventures in Atlanta.

Inherent problem with fans: any cast member who leaves a show they brand as being “fired”. Incorrect terminology, especially when the employee initiated their own exit. Fans want to go to thee most negative outcome and report on it to incite reaction from their supporters.
