That is something I've noticed overall in those old episodes - how new storylines, characters and plot twists are subtly introduced many months or even years in advance. It's really impressive. Like the Angela storyline which started in late 1988 after we had been wondering for about a year and a half where Stephanie disappeared to once a week. Or Sally's introduction in early 1989 after we had heard stories for over a year about Spectra and how much the Forresters loathed the company. Or Felicia who was always the youngest Forrester sibling but wasn't shown on screen for years although she was mentioned regularly. It really shows how much thought and planning went into creating the B&B universe in those early years.

you are so right and it was like that with the stories till 2000's i think. Same with James strory about his mother in 1992, Jack (with his gambling) and Zack, even Sheila coming to town.

Another story soon to come is about Brooke's second pregnancy.

I always wondered what happened to Gladys Jimenez (Carmen) back in 2000`s. She was hired on contract and even had very nice opening credit pictures. My memory might false me but I remember reading she was hired on one year contract but was let go only after two months lol. Was the mrs. Troublemaker on the set or did they just want to spice things up by suddenly killing Carmen.

Well B&B certainly has a LONG history of doing U-turns about new hires they celebrated with fanfare but GJ was dating Sean Kanan (and I think even got pregnant by him) so while I dunno the timing of that relationship vs her tenure on the show, maybe this had to do with why she was written out a lot quicker than predicted.

No. Their contracts ties them into exclusivity to a show during the duration of the contract but on the other hand a show can terminate the contract at will at the end of a "cycle" which is generally every thirteen weeks.

So basically if she lasted two months, she probably was paid her guarantee for something like an extra month but then she is out of luck.

Wow! Tomorrow the official B&B YT channel will stream a reunion with Katherine Kelly Lang, John McCook, Ronn Moss (!!!), and Susan Flannery (!!!!!!). It was filmed May 24, 2020 for Italian TV. Maybe this is old news, but I had no idea.

    • I still see Alfonso Ribeiro as Carlton when Martin gets angry.
    • Not that I want to defend Y&R's writers, but it's not as absurd as you'd think and I believe they plucked it from reality (and then bungled it). The Estee Lauder Companies purchased Tom Ford's brand several years ago and I am willing to bet that's how Jabot came to buy Marchetti.
    • Loved the episode today. looking forward to the fallout. Nubian-Sheila looked fantastic, but I wish the writers would cut back on her overuse of figurative language. I loved the "fix yo mind ministries" line though. The background music during her fantasy confrontation with Nicole was epic.
    • Nothing makes sense on this show. I wish there was a garbage can emoji. That sums up 90% of the show right now.

Jane Wyman return episode was head-to-head w/ Cheers season 8 finale. Falcon Crest broadcast syndication began Fall 1986, which overlapped w/ Oprah going national. AFAIK cable broadcasts were Lifetime and Soapnet. I have no memory of cable broadcasts on TBS, TNT, TNN, E!, FX.
    • After today’s rushed and abrupt exit for Summer I immediately realized that Josh & Co. were very blindsided by AL’s decision to leave.  Not the first time this has happened to JG either; see MM & HK’s exits in 2021, MM’s exit in 2022, and of course TSJ’s exit last year. Obviously JG and our executive in charge of nothing Steve Kent don’t have a good handle on casting disruptions. And Mariah having an offscreen affair is [!@#$%^&*] ridiculous!! Meanwhile Tessa’s blonde hair is overkill with the number of blondes on the show already. I said the same thing 3 years ago…of course it was utterly ridiculous everyone was mad at Sally for getting Summer he dream job (don’t ask lol) but there was so much the show could have done without bringing on the Marchetti angle.
    • Does the ball on GL where Philip revealed that he had forced Alan out of Spaulding count or was that not Philip's idea?  There was a ball on AMC where Adam revealed that he had bankrupted Palmer, I think (or was it the other way around?), but I can't remember who threw that.
    • Thanks for honoring Ruth Buzzi. She was a treasure. I'm glad DAYS let her have some fun. I remember Imogene Coca complaining about ATWT just giving her a drab guest part.
    • It's such a delicious set of circumstances that I'm actually a little surprised that I can't think of ones that exactly match. I've just got a couple of close but no cigars (the reveal wasn't public, like when Alexis told Dominique at her and Garrett's engagement party that Garrett lied about being married; or the revealer didn't come up with the idea of the party). Maybe I need to think some more about it.
