Yeah, no one really NAILED it tonight. A few came close...

Oh and I think i forgot Bucky. LMAO. That says a lot right there about him. Um, he did okay. It was good, not great.

Katharine did very well. Something about her... Simon is right. I really enjoy watching her and she has a great voice.

OMG, Kelli was damned horrible. There is nothing likable about her and fake attitude, LOL!!

Ace was horrible. I was surprised. Mandisa was OK. Everyone was pretty shoddy tonite. Katherine was good but it looked like she forgot some of her lyrics. I thought Lisa was GREAT, she was very confident like Simon said, but her song wasn't that great. Taylor was amazing.

Gosh. It's so hard to pick a bottom three!

Ace has the sex symbol thing going.

Mandisa, Chris, Taylor, Kevin, and Kelli obviously have really big fanbases and gimmicks (either self-made, show-made, or press-made gimmicks) to keep them in.

Mandisa, Paris, Chris, and Lisa are so talented and have amazing voices.

The judges loved Katherine tonight. And seemed to like Melissa too.

It's going to be a very unpredictable season. Quite possibly the most unpredictable EVER. IMO.

My guess for going home: Bucky or Melissa McGee. I wouldn't be surprised if the show started out with a big upset and Katherine goes home. It just seems like maybe she might have the least rabid fanbase, not that she is the least talented.

As for tonight, thank God for Paris and Chris.

I would so shocked if Kevin left the first four or five weeks. He has alot of things going for him....none of which is being CLOSE to being the most talented though. He's going to be the John Stevens of this year.

That's what is frustrating me the most this year, MichaelGL. I feel like there is so much potential, but not one is coming through! Mandisa, Lisa, Elliot, Ace, and even Kelly (as annoying as I think personality is) really have yet to do a really fun, contemporary, unique performance and wow me. And I think they ALL could do it, easily, if they tried!

You know what, at first I liked Paris, but now? I'm just not feeling her. I mean it. I'm just NOT feeling her. I'm not down with all the moving and shaking and bobbing the head and moving all over the place...it's just REALLY grating on my nerves. Don't ask why. It was cute at first, now it's not. I just want to yell at her face and say, "Stand still, girl!" Damn!

Love Stevie Wonder but I knew the signers would have trouble tonight. His songs are difficult. I wish they would have doen a decade theme or Lionel Ritchie too but oh well. I agree with Simon the first half of the show was bad for the most part and the second part excellent. Here it goes:

Ace: Terrible. I am so over him. He is being too much like Constantine. I always get this feeling that he isn;t being sincere or thinks he will just get by because the females think he is a dreamboat. I liked him before but not anymore, He isn't going anywhere though.

Kellie: Disappointing but I knew no matter what she did she would be stuck since her voice doesn't really suit any Stevie songs that I know of. Her vocals weren't bad but the song was so dull and so not her, The dress wasn't her either. She was so far out of her element. Her personality should get her through though. I was pleased with the way she handled the negative criticism though.

Elliot: Good vocals but I didn't feel him tonight. Maybe it was the song or something but I just didn't connect with him like I usually do. Not bad though. He is safe.

Mandisa: Not her best but really good. Love her going on without her shoes. Love her personality and class and she definitely has one of the best voices in the competition, along with being a great performer. She picked a great song and did really well. She is sailing through.

Bucky: Forgettable and very blah. Nothing about it was appealing. He seemed so out of place on stage. he tried to sell it with some dance moves and somewhat decent vocals but it was very average. Probably bottom 3 and maybe gone if someone else doesn't go.

Melissa: I didn't like it but she wasn;t downright horrible. The botched lyrics didn't really bother me but I think she picked the wrong song since it doesn;t really suit her range IMO. Looked great though-I still think Ayla should be here but whatever. No matter what she does though I think she is gone. She has like no fanbase-kinda like what happened to Jessica last year. Something about her turns people off. Probably bottom 3 tomarrow and maybe going home, depending on someone else.

Kevin: Horrible. Did Randy and Paula go deaf for 3 minutes? That performance sucked. The dancing, the singing, just everything. I think the judges have been way too nice to him, especially the last few weeks where he hasn't been that good. He does have poise and guts but his ego is getting way too inflated. I don;t care much about Simon but he is right alot and what he said to Simon was very snotty-kinda like what Scott said to him after surviving a few eliminations and then after being a snot to Simon he was finally eliminated. We know only little kids (who we saw tonight) and the elderly are the only ones voting for him now and that is it. He better be gone and deservedly so. He is the worst. First him then Bucky and Melissa and then the fun starts. I think his performance, growing ego, and comments to Simon booked him a one way ticket off idol.

Lisa: Not bad but not her best. The ending rocked with the band like Randy said. She should be safe though-love her personality too.

Katherine: Excellent. Best female voice IMO and it does remind me a bit of Kelly Clarkson. Perfect song for her and she did great tonight. She is sailing to the final 5.

Paris: Great. She performed, sung, and had the poise of a veteren. Great personality and she will go very far.

Taylor: Much better then last week's debacle. Much more controlled and more had an equal balance of vocal and performance. If he keeps this up, I will keep liking him. He isn't going anywhere.

Chris: Best of the night IMO. He is already a star. He picked a perfect song and his performance was awesome. He is truly my favorite and Simon was right on in his assessment of him. Love him. He is sailing through to the final 4.

    • Breakdown writers can pitch stories and obviously they have influence over what is included in the breakdown but MVJ is the final decision maker. It depends on the faith you have in MVJ if you feel Carlivati is going to be a problem. I don't think a throwaway having a book author named after him is a sign he's taken over the show. Most people didn't even catch the reference.
    • Tamara Tunie reading that damn letter is exactly why I wish this show had more experienced actors.

    • Oh wow. After reading your post, I realized that they had "Carl Ivati" in the script AGAIN yesterday June 6.    Eva said she was reading his latest, and Tomas said "Work's been so busy, I haven't had time to get into his new series". Then Eva proceeds to tell him that "the first book is called 'Mercy and Goodness' and it's all about how the couple first met and how they got separated".   She goes on and on about how great it is. And she says she has the book in her hotel room if he wants to borrow it. She says it has twists and turns. And meanwhile Kat is snooping in Eva's room to look for the helmet and gloves, and finds the book and dismisses it as "basic". I saw that whole scene -- but I wasn't paying attention to the name of the author.  And when Tomas said the name, I heard it in his accent so I didn't hear "carlivati".  II was mainly trying to see if the acting had improved with the actor playing Tomas, and I think he has improved somewhat.   I only see it when typed out. So they had several scenes yesterday about a "Carl Ivati" book?  Barf! Well at least Kat had the good sense to dismiss it as "basic". Ron Carlivati wrote the breakdown yesterday!   Featuring himself in it! Addressing to the collective "you" whoever you may be: Some of you, months ago, said Oh Ron is only doing breakdowns.  The story comes from MVJ, so he won't influence things, you said. May 27 started it, with Christopher Dunn breakdown and Lynn Martin script. But they didn't need to continue it June 6 with Carlivati breakdown and Jazmen Darnell Brown script.
    • I was completely lost. But it is wonderful that it exists. I didn't really know Robert Mandan had done soaps...well, besides SOAP.
    • Jack and Jennifer are tired. I just don't care about them when they return. They add nothing to the show.
    • Did they really bring back Jack and Jennifer for Jack to prop up Leo and Jenn to serve as an obstacle to Chad/Cat? Are we sure Ron still isn't in the building?
    • We can only hope that they finally kill off Leo too
    • We can only hope that maybe the new writers might read this.
