American Idol

I can't BELIEVE America kept Ace in. I have honestly seen no one more annoying in my entire life. It's because he thinks he's God's gift to America because of his supposed good looks--and he's not even good-looking! And again with the scar, what is it? Why does he think that got him votes? Are American Idol voters part of a growing sect of scar fetishists, because seeing that thing very nearly made me vomit!!!!!

I think Bucky sang better than Katharine this week. Simon was dead on, and I knew he'd think this, that Katharine sounded much better in the studio than she did on TV. I thought she butchered that song. But as bad as she was, Kellie was much worse. She obviously has a big fan base that will keep her in.

Ace could be the next to go. He isn't an amazing singer. He better sing nude this week to hold on to his shallow vote base.

I don't like Paris..she is very cocky.

Hey! I voted for Ace last night, and not because I saw his scar, or because I think he's "good looking" I voted because I like him and his voice...does that make me shallow?

Actually, that's not true. Ruben was definitely in the bottom 3 (if not bottom 2?). And Fantasia was in the bottom 3 more than once. One of those times was when she, Jennifer, and Latoya were in the bottom 3 and America cried racism (with Elton John joining in the fun too <_< )

So Kelly and Carrie were the only ones who have not been in the bottom 3.

Ace and Lisa in the bottom 3 were spot on. Katharine, while not very good on Tuesday did not deserve to be there. She was miles better than most of them, but DialIdol had her 2nd to last in the votes. I was definitely surprised last night. I guess they were right.

Bucky and Kellie should've been in Katharine's place, followed by Paris.

And I think my problem with Paris is her being hyper all the time. That's one of the reasons I hated Fantasia. At least Paris doesn't scream, but she has got to tone down her jumping around just like Chris needs to tone down his screaming too. His schtick is getting old, not to mention Ace's attempts at being sexy

Ace sucks. He is overdoing his "sex appeal".

Sad to see Lisa go but not surprised at all.

Bucky did good this week so I think his good performance saved him again. I bet he's in the bottom three next week though. It seems like a pattern. Ace in the bottom three, does better, safe, sucks and is back in the bottom three. I think we'll see that happen to Bucky too.

To me, Katharine sounded fantastic. A little boring but she really did well. I'm stunned about the turnaround, I really am.

I really think Katharine's fans dropped the ball this week because they just assumed she was safe. That's the problem...

If Kellie goes on to win this thing it will be a huge travesty.

actually i think Carrie did make bottom three once, but I know Fantasia was too... i still would pick LaToya over her, but oh well

and I know Katherine didn't deserve and shouldn't have been in the bottom 3, but I kind of cheered... because i feel like she has an arrogance and has put herself on this high pedestal and i was glad to see her knocked off her high horse... but i still dont think she should've been bottom 3

I remember reading only Carrie and Kelly were never in the bottom 3.

It seems like Taylor, Kellie and Chris have the most votes every week (if Dial Idol and a combination of polls is any indication). I just wonder if they will lead all year.

Like last year, maybe Carrie has the most votes by a mile every single week and was a shoe in from day 1. I guess that's why they don't tell us the top vote getters or how many votes.

WOW another shocker. We should get ready for this because this year will have many of them just like season 3. Its really wide open since everyone is so inconsistent. They were all so bad last night anyone could have gone to be honest.

Katherine should not have been there. Bucky was the one along with Lisa who I thought were shoo-ins but as long as Katherine stayed its good. These idols need to start realizing they need to bring it and make good choices every week because they all have been inconsistent.

Ace should go-the whole scar thing and attitude he has where he thinks his looks will get him through is old. Its not working either since he has been in the bottom 3 twice. I think he could be next if he doesn't step it up. Bucky should go first though.

As for Lisa and Paris, they are almost the same age and close friends. Plus, I heard they were roomates so that is their bond. I am glad that we are starting to see that the idols are a close knit group. Simons was right-they were all not so good this week and they need to have a better week next week. I hope that happens.

Oh and Shakira was so hot. Simon was hilarious when that guy (don't know his name) was rapping in his face  . Oh and Carrie and Kelly were the only two winners to never be in the bottom 3. I do think Clay wasn't in it either but I am not sure.

Paula grates on my nerves. I was watching some stuff from Season 1 and she's SO normal! And S1's cast kicks this casts ass because I swear most of them sound fantastic on their WORST days.

But it was funny, not sure if anyone saw it last night but Paula gave some half-assed reason why Kat and Lisa were in the bottom two and Simon very obviously rolled his eyes. It was hilarious.

Different strokes I guess. I thought Season 1 was terrible and the Top 12 was pathetic. I see this season's cast as the best from top to bottom.

I think part of the judges personas on the show are their real personas and the rest is an act. I think over time, they've bought into the public's perceptions of them and become more and more like that, Randy the dog, Simon the hard ass, and Paula the sweet nut job.

    • In the current environment, while it's small, there is a crumb of good news: Apparently, San Antonio voted for a DEMOCRATIC mayor, Gina Ortiz, beating the "right-hand man" of Gov. Greg Abbott, former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5337199-gina-ortiz-jones-wins-san-antonio/
    • Love this! You are both adorable. Wow
    • I have not gone back to watch much of 1987, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't feel like the writers or producers had any sort of plan. The show feels as if it's constantly in flux.  I will give it credit for this. It's watchable for the most part minus Lisa/Jamie which I find nearly unwatchable now.   I don't find Cheryl mousy. I think she has a lot of quiet strength, but she was saddled with the Scott romance which the writers did not invest in. She had a good friendship with Julie (also criminally underused), and her interactions with Ada were enjoyable as well. I also like Layman, but Spencer was extremely talented and when Cass returns, Schnetzer and Spencer have some wonderful scenes. Spencer also fits in with Alexander, Hogan, and Marie.  I'd forgotten just how much I missed seeing Wallingford. IT was so good to see him again. Even when they didn't have a major plot, Felicia/Cass/Wallingford/Mitch always brings a smile to my face.

    • NBC must have been grateful to have LHOTP, it's only hit and still strong after several seasons. Their next established show was Rockford Files at 45th. They didn't develop any comedies and relied on movies and mini series  which didnt establish viewer loyalty and habits. Their only new hit was mid season's Project UFO which debuted Feb up against Rhoda/On Our Own on CBS and How the West Was Won on ABC. It opened with a strong 36 share beating CBS and close to ABC as HTWWW had a 36 share over 3 hours. The next week UFO saw a respectable 32 share, then a 31 so it was slipping. A 28 share followed but a few weeks later it jumped back up to a 34. So no blockbuster but compared to what else they had, there was potential, So next season NBC sent it to Thursday up against Mork and The Waltons and it bombed.  They were smart to see potential in Chips, which took off on Saturdaysnext season. ABC was on a roll with Love Boat, 3's Company, Taxi, Eight is Enough adding to their hits. Their only real flops were Redd Foxx and San Pedro Beach Bums, an Aaron Spelling misfire. Like Redd Foxx, Harvey Korman was lured to ABC but his series was a filler that did well but was considered a time slot hit. Nancy Walker and Rob Reiner were also given series on the philosophy that not only were they popular names, their absence from popular shows like Sanford, Rhoda and All in the Family might weaken those shows. CBS were relying on old favorites. Betty White was strong the first few weeks then faded. Incredible Hulk was their strongest newbie. It was lucky for CBS that NBC was doing so badly or else some of their weaker shows would have really suffered.
    • That outfit looks like something Martin would wear lol.
    • Omg not we both ran into people from the show this weekend!
    • I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
    • Yup.  You can hate John all you want, but like seriously he was the cornerstone of the show for years.  So he should get a long ass funeral and burial and all the things because Drake and John deserve that.
