This might be more appropriate for the general retro thread, but I think it can't be overstated: executives, producers and/or writers who wouldn't let daytime be daytime and felt the need to chase after primetime, and then cable, did way too much damage to the soaps.

I'm a fan of Robin's Janet, so I might have enjoyed seeing that Risa storyline play out.

I just started to read it... and Girl... I'm shook. 

What I didn't know was that McTavish grew up in the same area that I grew up in though 30+ years before me, and I also didn't know that the Gloria Marsh character hailed from Pekin IL.   Pekin residents were known for being closed minded in all ways that you could think of.. even in the 2000s when I was in college.

I do recall the Julia Barr/Roscoe Born part of the story with Julia Barr being into the story and being disappointed that Roscoe quit suddenly.  And I recall Erica rescuing Gloria from trying to unalive herself and finding it odd.. so I don't blame Susan Lucci for being confused by this event in the show.

 

I do love that even Megan was baffled by JFP's obsession with Kale Browne, and needing to write him and Jill's other faves into OLTL three times a week.

This whole thing pretty much fits Megan as described by others (or imagined by her audience) to a T, lmao. The forward alone is hysterically insane.

She even goes in on the whole camera thing!

So Megan has smoke for just about everyone on the planet in this thing, including Maureen Garrett from GL. I think the only person she absolutely loves is, ironically, Brian Frons.

Her comments about Agnes are complex to say the least.

Even if 10 percent of what Megan says is true... This is wild. Her autobiography is like a very trashy but entertaining soap opera.

The Kate Collins/James Kiberd stuff confirmed the rumors, and even during the Locher Room interview that Kate was at.. she framed it as deciding to support her new husband in his career and to be a stay at home mom after living her dream.  

While I think what she said in the interview was true, she probably felt good quitting because the work situation for her was no longer healthy/positive and she decided to leave.

She mentioned Robin Mattson, and didn't elaborate on what exactly happened with her.

Megan claims this was all vetted by lawyers, but I think she's lucky it didn't get published. Even if the Kiberd/Collins stuff is true, which I can believe.

It is almost cartoonish how she revels in killing off both Dixie and Nadine on GL, lol. (Though she claims Dixie's 'permadeath' was not her idea.)

I finished it. I feel like I need a shower to cleanse my soul... after this book. Metaphorically speaking.

I think a shower won't be enough. I may need to do some fasting and prayer too.

I hope I didn't spoil too much from the show for myself... But I just couldn't not finish this mess.

It's like she... was hate-writing all of this in some kind of diary... And someone found it and then typed it on paper. Parts of it are so amusingly unhinged and so raw... I will never forget the comment about a certain someone being cheap and not tipping taxis. 

McTavish was coming for the jugular in this moment. 😂😂😂
