Thank you so much for sharing, Carl! I'm glad you thought of me when posting that!

Mark is my ultimate soap crush, the character and the actor. He has this great vibe in all of the interviews from this time period and was living a very full, fun life. I love that he was definite in saying that he enjoyed working in daytime. Many actors at this time were very candid in their apathy towards their work on soaps.

I read something about his wife disappearing at some point in the 90s? But then in the People magazine special AMC issue, he's in the "Where are they now?" section and I think it mentions a wife and 12-year-old daughter. I'm sure there's an interview out there (possibly in this thread) about why he left the show.

IDK if they ever attempted to bring him back full time, but he was definitely needed. After Mona passed, then Myrtle, we needed an "Oh, Erica!!" person on the show full-time, and I'm not quite sure Opal was it. Mark should have been Bianca's beloved uncle, not Jack.

I know, for example, that Nick Surovy wouldn't stay on as Mike Roy for more than 6 months or so at a time, which was why he was recast in the 80s and why Erica chose Jack in 1998. I wasn't sure if Mark LaMura had some sort of similar objection to coming back to AMC long-term or if AMC just couldn't be bothered. I agree with you - I would have loved to see a closer relationship between Bianca and her Uncle Mark.

I suspect we would have had a few withdrawals next year if Israel had won. I don't think many people would relish going to Jerusalem as things stand now. Not to mention it would have been a prime target for terrorist attacks.
    • And they've given us plenty. Sets, outdoor scenes, music licensing, etc. And that was the point of me using DAYS... so. It's obvious the casino set is not intended for long-term use, hence why it's likely it wasn't as evolved as the other community sets, etc.

    • I just had thought of how to save the Perkins family. (Inspired by Rituals) -- What if Marisa Perkins was Augusta Lockridge's sister? Fictionally, they could've both been local girls, one married rich and one married poor. Originally, I was going to suggest that Marisa be Sophia's sister, but then I realized Joe and Kelly would've been first cousins.  Of course, it would've truly inspired Sophia was if Rosa Andrade sister, with Rosa and Santana moving in to help CC raise the kids once Sophia disappeared.  While this could've avoided both gross CC and Santana affairs, the times were not right for a story about intersectional inequity.
    • https://www.instagram.com/p/DJxW5DLJLId/ Another World is my forever favorite soap opera. But it's finale is almost universally hated by its fans. What this is, is an edit where I've deleted everything I didn't like!!!
    • The Perkins family had potential to be a nice alternative to the more dysfunctional Capwells and wackier Lockridges... but I think a few factors did in the family. 1) Recasting of Joe Perkins 2) Bad casting of the Perkins Patriarch, and the one note writing for that character. 3) Lack of antagonistic interaction between the Capwells/Lockridges and Perkins.  (There was no awkwardness between Jade/Ted.. or CC disapproving of his son being friends with that Perkins girl, etc). 4) Wasting of Jade thus wasting the potential of the actress (which was realized on Days of Our Lives).  She had more potential than Laken oddly enough. The only member of the Perkins family that had appeal and a somewhat thought out story arc was Amy.
    • @GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime after July 1985 before he rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.
