April 15, 201114 yr Member Mark my words, I'm convinced that in 10 years time, daytime will be 50% infomercials.
April 15, 201114 yr Member Kim Zimmer: I feel like it's Deja Vu all over again! Yikes!! You should. This makes, what, four soap cancellations you've witnessed, Kim? First, THE DOCTORS; then, SANTA BARBARA; then, GUIDING LIGHT; and now, OLTL. Take my advice: if DAYS or one of the Bell soaps comes a-callin', don't answer the phone. April 15, 201114 yr Member This video report from the wall street journal is annoying. http://online.wsj.com/public/page/news-media-marketing.html OK, so that food program is going to do well because people are making dinner and talking about dinner at lunch time. What-the-f!ck-ever. Ostrich heads, anyone?
April 15, 201114 yr Member Mark my words, I'm convinced that in 10 years time, daytime will be 50% infomercials. And the other fifty? "Maury." Because, there will ALWAYS be stank ho's looking for their babydaddies.
April 15, 201114 yr Member You should. This makes, what, four soap cancellations you've witnessed, Kim? First, THE DOCTORS; then, SANTA BARBARA; then, GUIDING LIGHT; and now, OLTL. Take my advice: if DAYS or B&B comes a-callin', don't answer the phone. Why should she? Days is all but cancelled. It's lucky it got renewed when it did...the ratings for the show are horendous...going towards GL territory.
April 15, 201114 yr Member Yeah, but can you imagine vets like Erika Slezak (Viki) and Robert S. Woods (Bo) relocating? That's the $64,000 question. "It's hard to envision Erica anywhere else but Pine Valley," Frons said. Apparently, he wasn't watching those years when Erica lived in a New York penthouse apartment. Great point! And years ago he should have been saying, "It's hard to envision Erica being written less to her potential on a show that clearly needs a creative overhaul."
April 15, 201114 yr Member I grew up on the CBS shows and even ATWT more or less did the beautiful thing. Even the ill coma victims wore perfect make up. I do wonder if the focus on high production values has helped the Bell shows in terms of ratings? I don't buy the time slot issue and can't think of any other reason for Y&R's higher HH numbers. On another topic, I'm wondering why OLTL got more time than AMC. I'm guessing this must come down to cost. OLTL almost has to much notice--not enough time to chart new stories yet too much time for a wrap up. Expecting a painful eight months. I give Frons credit for at least being honest here as opposed to Bloom over at CBS where they pretended ATWT had a chance after the cancellation of Guiding Light. Yes, the production values are what saves the Bell shows, without a doubt. the only reason I STARTED watching Y&R in 1974 was because it was interesting, had beautiful background music, and looked GOOD, while everything else looked cheap and tacky.
April 15, 201114 yr Member Great point! And years ago he should have been saying, "It's hard to envision Erica being written less to her potential on a show that clearly needs a creative overhaul." The way, the troof, and the light. Rightcheer folks. People always care when it's too late with these shows.
April 15, 201114 yr Member Eventually I think ABC is going to have to give back the time to the related stations. This is going to really hurt the O&Os as many air Oprah too. Yup. The network will be pissed (for giving up their hours), and the local affiliates will be beside themselves, too, trying to figure out how to get audiences watching during the day. Shame on you, ABC.
April 15, 201114 yr Member Why should she? Days is all but cancelled. It's lucky it got renewed when it did...the ratings for the show are horendous...going towards GL territory. No it's not. It's not even close. Days ALWAYS rebounds, remember people had it DOA about 3 years ago and it rebounded, it will again. I think Days will be one of the last ones standing: Days, Y&R possibly GH
April 15, 201114 yr Member Mark my words, I'm convinced that in 10 years time, daytime will be 50% infomercials. I wouldn't be too surprised. Weekends are already looking like that. Thanks God for AntennaTV and MyNetwork's block of classic sitcoms during the day.
April 15, 201114 yr Member I think Days will be one of the last ones standing: Days, Y&R possibly GH Wow, you're really going out on a limb there. You named every non-canceled soap except for B&B.
April 15, 201114 yr Member Kurt Hummel (Glee) They’re cancelling One Life To Live and All My Children! Get me Peggy Bundy – I need a shoulder to cry on.
