AMC and OLTL Canceled!

And the year it did win, I thought, was such a fluke. Of course, why begrudge it now? It'll probably be their only one. :-(

Yeah, I gave them a pass on that, because it surely had deserved the best show award several times before (1985, 1992, 1993, 1994).

Honestly, I do not get why there's so much hostility to the idea of Bianca being bisexual. Daytime ain't barely done sh!t for us switch hitters, and we have what looks like an opportunity for Lorraine Broderick and Agnes Nixon to collaborate on a storyline about bisexuality. I'll be damned if I give that up just because some people want to pretend like we don't exist.

Did you mean Marissa?

I might buy it if there had been any kind of build up to it. Isn't there enough contrived sh*t on this show already?

The year OLTL swept half the acting categories (HBS, RH, and SH) and won best writing, it wasn't even nominated.

That was a strange year for the Daytime Emmy's. GL and OLTL split all the acting categories, while OLTL won for writing, and GL won for Directing. When it came time for Best Show, OLTL wasn't nominated, and GL lost out to AMC.

I do remember Felicia Minei Behr commenting later to I think SOD that she thought GL should've/would've won it that year.

OLTL should've been nominated and should've won. The gang rape story and subsequent trial were some of the most riveting TV I'd ever seen at the time. And the show wasn't even nominated.

I would, too. But as I've said before, I feel Marissa is being "turned gay," b/c there isn't anyone else available for Bianca to mate with. IMO, Binks deserves better.

Weirdly, though, I think that was the last year I was riveted by the goings-on.

I can't begrudge the shows that lost out, as I think the early part of the 90's were the last time anyone at the network and producer level gave a damn about the soaps.

AMC, GL, ATWT, OLTL, and Y&R all had really good period during this time, both in ratings gains for specific stories and in critical acclaim.

So I read people are donating money to have a full page ad taken out.

I think I'll pass, too risky, someone might get greedy and take off with the money.

Or worse, the resulting ad will consist of one large photo of CM leaning against a rock, wearing just a thong.

I have no desire to give any money for this, but fan groups have put up full page ads in the past, although there might have been a few times where it was a ripoff, I don't know.

Sample Ad: "THANK YOU, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, FOR GIVING US 43 YEARS OF TODD AND BLAIR!"

The mental image of that :ph34r:

Finally, I urge all soap fans to watch The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless — along with the final days of AMC and One Life — in order to support this genre and ensure its future.

No, thanks.

Again, why should I support an industry that gave up on supporting itself long ago? I have no incentive to watch these shows anymore, and apparently so do many other people. The soap industry stopped planning a "future" long ago.

Nellie can go suck it, for all I care. Did he rant like this when ATWT and GL were canceled? (No, really, did he? I forget.) Either way, would he be this outraged if his favoritest show ever, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, hadn't been axed? Chances are, if it were just AMC, he would just shrug and say, "Sorry, guys!".

Exactly. If anything maybe the demise of OLTL will send him and his rubbish he passes off as journalism packing.
