Y&R - Actress DROPPED from contract

About 5 years too late but its about time

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS' Judith Chapman (Gloria) has switched to recurring status with the soap -- but the actress isn't going anywhere. Insiders are saying that the fan favorite will continue to appear on the show as story dictates.

Working in Genoa City (or, frankly, in any soap opera town) without a contract isn't unusual these days. Chapman's TV husband, Ted Shackelford (Jeffrey), and Gloworm bartender Sean Kanan (Deacon) also appear on Y&R on a recurring basis. Chapman joined the show in 2005, replacing Joan Van Ark in the role of Michael and Kevin's unpredictable and outrageous mom.

I wonder if we'll see the same announcement for Bryton McClure soon. They both were woefully underused last year so dropping them to recurring makes sense from a budget perspective.

Same here. I'm actually shocked she's been on-contract this entire time.

She was still on contract? I was under the thinking that she went recurring in '09 or something. It certainly felt that way.

MARIA said that Glo is one of her favorite characters... That's why La Chapman remained on contract, but that move to recurring is long overdue indeed.
