I never liked Liasion and have not cared about any relationships either had since the early early days of Lucky/Liz, but I just think it would be soapy drama if they were thrown together again after Jake's death.

Not since they were dropped around 2002. The last go around ruined Liz. I thought that pairing was vile in how they villified other characters around them in order to justify their existence. Guza wasnt too subtle about it either. Demonizing Sam and trashing Lucky. I dont think he realized he was destronying Liz in the process as well by writing her extremely hypocritical and ugly. It was a mess all around. The only one who didnt come off too bad was Jason, no surprise there

If we're playing the rumor has it game, the other rumor is that it's not all Guza. Elizabeth Korte -- Guza's right hand woman -- loves Jason and dislikes Elizabeth and is very clear that she despises Liason in favor of Jasam whenever these issues are discussed.

In all honesty he doesn't even give it to the women - kids kill a character. It killed Carly and Liz, and now it's done it's deed to Robin. Giving Sam a baby will be the end of her and Brenduh wanting a child is another final nail. There is nothing redeeming about being a parent on TV - necessary when a show is multigenerational like soaps are, but not life-giving. I think there's a reason why the same characters have children over and over - it limits the impact to the individual while increasing the population. I always cringe when I see fans calling for babies for favourite characters and wonder if they can see what that means. It's awful.

Being a parent in r/l is the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Being a parent on TV means you have basically been boxed in and can't do anything until said child is an adult, or at the very least a teen, and by then you're usually just reacting to story rather than leading it.

I don't read a misogynist agenda at play in Guza's approach to parenting. I simply see a writer to knows what that means long-term.

I think it depends on the character. For instance, Lesley's character was probably enhanced by having a daughter (although she was already a young adult by the time she was found), and then, Anna seemed to have a lot of dramatic stories even with a young child. It seems like these days the show doesn't know how to do this but I think part of it is because they just don't write a lot of emotionally mature or complicated women.

I will agree that they don't write emotionally mature women, but at the same time would emotionally mature women get themselves into soapy situations? As you've pointed out, Laura was already grown by the time Lesley had a child, so it didn't matter. Tracy started knitting when Dillon was on the way - I ask you, is that Tracy Quartermaine? Anna and Robin had to do with R&H and Anna's guilt - she didn't raise Robin, Philomena did.

And it's not just the women. When Jax started obsessing about wanting to be a father, the Candy Man left town and was replaced by someone far less dashing and attractive. Lucky's birth happened off screen, but Lulu's nearly killed Luke. Michael's birth turned AJ and Tony into completely different creatures. Even Robert was a great occasional father to Robin but he didn't have to raise her, really. Maxie damaged Frisco. Mac hasn't been the same since Maxie/Georgie.

Kids change the equation. There's no getting around that, and interesting characters become less interesting if they have to remember their parenting status. Sonny - even while I can't stand him - is only a "good father" because he doesn't actually do it except in the occasional moments. It's all been on Carly and Alexis' head.

Jason & Liz will reunite, at some point. Be it for a ONS, a short arc, or for awhile, they will do it when they get bored and see it fitting the plot.

It will also be interesting to see whom all gets fired. Becky is obviously safe now, is Kelly?

I would much prefer Jason/Robin again than anyone else for him to be honest.

Kelly Monaco is Fron's obsession (he is the fan of Jason and Sam and said so and he mandated she is only to be written with a positive focus) since Elizabeth is only written with a negative one I would venture to guess he mandated that as well.

Hence, she's safe unless he goes or she leaves on her own. Many fans brag how she has him on speed dial (supposedly said by her I think not sure how this got around but its been around for years). During her last contract negotiation I guess she was trying to play hard ball and they put out a casting call describing her character and she straightened up quickerthanthis.

As for kids killing a woman's character on GH it certainly does because women don't drive story so what can they do? I don't see this on other shows I watch where women can have a storyline outside of just being a mom...Guza will not write women driven storylines so any woman having even one baby is in trouble. Unless its like Robin and Patrick Drake but even in her instance I haven't always liked how Robin is written.
