That didn't take long. People will be less likely to guest on the show if that spat went on too long.

So Braeden is saying that he'd never heard of the show? Or someone who was having lunch with him at the time says that? Odd. Braeden was on the show last year.

<span style="font-size:120%;"> In an interview with TVGuide.com at the time, the 69-year-old actor said he had to be talked into doing HIMYM by his agents and family. "I didn't want to do it, to be quite frank with you," he said. "I have had a longstanding antipathy toward guest-starring on nighttime television because I'd done that an enormous amount in the '60s and '70s. I was infuriated by the singular decision by a former head of Universal Studios to lower guest-star salaries by 75 percent — from $7,500 per show to $2,500. At that time, Universal was the only game in town. So I swore I would not do that again." However, he said he ended up enjoying the experience "tremendously," calling the cast one of "the most wonderful groups of people I have ever met. It was the warmest set I've been on since Mary Tyler Moore." Calls to Braeden's rep have not yet been returned.

I think Braeden, although he's not as powerful as he thinks he is (he did take the pay cut last year) is sort of in his own area in regards to his soap work and how he's viewed by the public. I've known a lot of older straight guys who love Victor and see him as some kind of role model. I think it's because Braeden, and by default Victor, always try to avoid losing face.

From Deadline: http://www.deadline.com/2010/12/neil-patrick-harris-slams-eric-braeden-on-twitter-over-botched-himym-appearance/

Eric Braeden is firing back at Neil Patrick Harris for calling him a "D-Bag" on Twitter for bailing on a How I Met Your Mother guest stint at the 11th hour. In a statement to Deadline, the Young and the Restless actor said, "I have been in this business for 50 years, have seen so many actors come and go -- most of them never to be seen or heard from again. I suggest whoever this young fellow is that he enjoy his success and count his blessings and save his money. My first time on [HIMYM] I enjoyed working with the writers, directors, and crew enormously. However, I did not have the pleasure of meeting most of the cast, including this fellow who put his foot in his mouth by saying what he did. It's Christmastime and I forgive him for his transgression." Braeden says he pulled out of the HIMYM appearance partly due to exhaustion. "I have been overworked at Y&R. I have been doing 40 and 50 pages a day. I was [also] not aware of what they wanted me to do until the day before." Harris, meanwhile, seems to be regretting his choice of words. Three hours after his initial tirade, he returned to Twitter to say, "Now I feel bad for the D-bag comment. Don’t know the guy personally. I’m just fiercely protective of our show."

From EW: http://insidetv.ew.com/2010/12/17/twitter-eric-braeden-neil-patrick-harris/

“I really don’t know who that fellow is. He’s a guy who stars in that series,” Braeden told EW, laughing. “It’s very unfortunate. First of all, I came back from hip surgery. I was off for three weeks. I’ve doubled my work, 30 to 50 pages a day for me, alone. Everyone knows that I’m exhausted. I was not about to appear on a show for two lines, because that’s what it amounted to.”

On his Twitter feed, Harris said, “Eric Braeden is a D-Bag. The actor, (Robin’s dad) agreed to a cameo, then last night bailed, saying the part wasn’t ‘substantial’ enough.” The reason for his so-called bailing? Braeden said he only learned about the size of his part the day before the taping, which he considered unreasonable. (He believes he should have been given the scripts weeks in advance).

Braeden originally agreed to take the gig because he enjoyed his first appearance on the CBS comedy in November 2008. “I truly enjoyed working there last time,” Braeden said. “The cast and crew and producers couldn’t have been nicer.”

As for Harris, “His choice of words bothered me,” Braeden added. “It seems to me like a young whippersnapper, having seen himself on a few covers, who’s received a few awards, is now suddenly suffering from the first signs of hubris. I’ve been in the business for 50 years. I’ve seen people come and go and I’m still here.”

Braeden ultimately laughed off the whole situation. “If he is a worthy adversary, he’d better not cross my path. I will let bygones be bygones.”

It looks like Harris feels the same way. Three hours after his initial Twitter post, he added this comment: “Now I feel bad for the D-bag comment. Don’t know the guy personally. I’m just fiercely protective of our show.” Harris also said via Twitter that the role was re-cast with Ray Wise, “a fantastic actor who makes any part ‘substantial’. Super excited to welcome him to the family.”

To be fair, I think EB had a point about the two lines and only finding out the day before. This whole thing is hilarious though. "Whippersnapper??" Who talks like that. LMAO.

This has now crossed into the realm of the bizarre, but it's hilarious as hell. I'm not a NPH fan, but I guess EB doesn't realize that he was the lead on a primtime show by the time he was 16. Like it or not, his annoying ass isn't going anywhere soon.
