7A was so tiresome and drawn-out at parts but that wonderful scene with Rick and Michonne in the finale and then Rick and Daryl hugging (which made me cry) almost made up for it. There were huge problems (mostly Negan or way too little Carol) but, along the way, some things like the unexpected Tara episode which I ended up liking a lot, Rosita being clearer and more interesting to me, Carl's nightmare episode with Negan, and the improvement of Negan and JDM coming into his own, did provide some good stuff.

But, boy did they screw themselves over with this first half. I wonder if the ratings will ever recover. They need to do MUCH better with Negan.

What a pleasant surprise 7B has been so far (2 episodes in)! They really jumped right into the action. I am not one to geek out over the zombie stuff usually, but Rick & Michonne mowing down the herd with the cars felt like such a classic TWD scene and the spiked walker Rick fought was literally the coolest. I found the scavengers so amazingly fascinating and Jadis, such a tough role that's easy to get wrong, was portrayed wonderfully. And then they turn around and hit me RIGHT in the feels with Daryl and Carol reuniting and Daryl not telling her about Abraham and Glenn. Melissa McBride once again delivering a powerhouse performance (Norman Reedus not far behind either!).

They've made it a habit to rotate doing focus episodes on each character in the ensemble throughout each season for the last 4 years. I don't see why this is some shocking new development every time it happens.

The first two of 7B have been excellent so far. 7A was, often, a drag indeed. I do like a lot of the more self-contained episodes but would not really mind if they (mostly) disappeared with the rare one every now and then.

Richard showed his true colors when he told Darryl his plan to lead the saviors to Carol.  As soon as Benjamin said that he met a girl, that was it for him.   Morgan's rage and breakdown was a long time coming, and it did not disappoint.  Just glad to see Carol is back to herself...ready to fight. She has been missed!

The Rick/Michonne episode was so, so beautiful. Funny, sweet, sad, sexy, exciting, just everything. How wonderful these two are together. And I did like Tara struggling with what to do regarding Oceanside, and how the stuff with Rosita stuff led to a nice ending that's bound to fυck everything up!

    • LOL - this is a perfect description, and that's what I loved about it! May be a bit campy, but it immediately caught my attention in a good way.  I'm not familiar with the Fishing Trip storyline, I'll have to look that up. I've noticed that about Josh, which has made him less attractive to me overall. He just yells a lot when he's not happy. Wow, Reva was married to HB!  LOL - "Always... eventually, and again"
    • I love your ideas. I would love to see Jack grown up this confused unhinged individual. He should hold a grudge against both Brooke and Taylor.

    • Lois's return has been a bust. So disappointing that the writers have never written for her. As with Tracy, the pool of GH vets is so thin, there's no one to pair her with. Doubtful they would go to the trouble of properly recasting a legacy character and then sticking  him with Lois; they're obviously not that invested. If she wants to be on this show, it'll be as a noisy grandma who stays in the background.
    • I love me some Anita and TT. They need to give her a good storyline and I know that it's coming.
    • @Franko Thanks for tagging me. A few days ago I was talking in another thread about the rise of "snarky" critics for TV shows in the '90s online recaps, but this is just more along the lines of a mauling. There's also the unspoken reality that films like Steel Magnolias were seen as movies for women, so therefore they sucked. Pauline Kael also had her share of blunt, at times incredibly nasty remarks, but the vitriol is often balanced by her love for film. I'm not seeing that here.  With that said, the comment about Field's work becoming unbearable describes how I felt when I tried to sit through her and Maura Tierney on ER.
    • I skipped most of Daniel too. I think it's awful he has kids with Nicole, Csrky5 and Chloe and Brady, Bo and Philip do not.

    • Today was very focused on Bo and his illness.  I’m liking how everything is ultimately tied together, even though everybody doesn’t know it yet. The EJ connection seems a little sudden and random though. I’m guessing that that was not on Ron’s agenda. And I’m not really sure why any of these rich people couldn’t help the hospital months ago lol  But I really like how the whole sepsis drug thing is being written a lot more realistically than what we’ve grown accustomed to with Dr. Rolf and all of his wonder drugs. They’re definitely putting more of an effort into this storyline. It feels more real.  Philip was a little whiny and self-pitying today, but I also feel like the writing has improved for him as well. He’s coming off less like a villain and more like a tragic hero. I enjoyed his scene with Stephanie and hopefully it means that at some point, we’ll get a revival of Philip/ Stephanie/Alex. Tying it to Stephanie’s novel could be really good. And, the dorkiness of Xander and Sarah was really sweet too. I’m looking forward to their weekend together and what secrets may or may not come out lol
