The second article is about Days and its actors winning the annual fan poll. Some may not remember (or know) that Bill Hayes went to the top of the polls before Susan Seaforth did. As much as I adore Susan, I feel sometimes that Bill gets short shrift from the show.

I would love to see it again. And I only got to see it when I was out of school (meaning elementary through high school) so I didn't see everything. I realize now how spoiled I was when I see the cast Days had when I first started watching (plus Bill Bell as the writer). By the way, I'm fairly certain that the picture of Julie in Doug's lap is from the episode that started out with Doug and Julie planning to elope to Portofino, Italy, after Julie divorced Scott, and ended with Doug accepting Addie's marriage proposal. Doug and Addie ended up using the plane tickets to Portofino.

Yes, and Doug and Julie had gotten the tickets for each other the previous Christmas, lol. Julie had told Doug it was over that day when they argued about taking David with them to Italy (Doug didn't want to). She called him later to say she was sorry but it was too late, he'd married Addie. I remember Doug and Addie being shown on the plane and Julie was shown throwing things around her apartment. I was so furious with Addie for doing that to her daughter but I don't remember being mad at Doug. I suppose because he was a bit of a rascal at the time so his behavior didn't surprise me as much.

Tom and Alice were great people but most of their children were messed up in some way. Tommy was probably the most well-adjusted. I think Addie had some regrets about her first marriage. Doug seemed exciting to her after being married to a stuffy banker, although the banker provided well for her. She seemed very snooty to me at first but Doug loosened her up. Before they got married she always called him "Mr. Williams" in sort of a sarcastic tone and then after they got married she would call him that in an affectionate manner. I wanted Doug and Julie together but I did like Doug and Addie too, and Doug genuinely loved her in the end.

Jam6242 - Thanks for posting all of those articles! I enjoyed reading them. I was surprised that the Peters family was so abundant. I remember Greg and Amanda fondly. I remember a episode of Days where they had Peter Brown do his famous fast gun draw routine from when he was in that western tv show. It was pretty cool.

You're welcome. Peter Brown was on Days longer than I realized too even though I was watching at the time. I read his autobiography recently and his heart didn't seem to be in acting on soaps no matter how long he was on them. He definitely preferred the westerns.

    • I skipped most of Daniel too. I think it's awful he has kids with Nicole, Csrky5 and Chloe and Brady, Bo and Philip do not.

    • Today was very focused on Bo and his illness.  I’m liking how everything is ultimately tied together, even though everybody doesn’t know it yet. The EJ connection seems a little sudden and random though. I’m guessing that that was not on Ron’s agenda. And I’m not really sure why any of these rich people couldn’t help the hospital months ago lol  But I really like how the whole sepsis drug thing is being written a lot more realistically than what we’ve grown accustomed to with Dr. Rolf and all of his wonder drugs. They’re definitely putting more of an effort into this storyline. It feels more real.  Philip was a little whiny and self-pitying today, but I also feel like the writing has improved for him as well. He’s coming off less like a villain and more like a tragic hero. I enjoyed his scene with Stephanie and hopefully it means that at some point, we’ll get a revival of Philip/ Stephanie/Alex. Tying it to Stephanie’s novel could be really good. And, the dorkiness of Xander and Sarah was really sweet too. I’m looking forward to their weekend together and what secrets may or may not come out lol

You're in the same category of the hacks that sell paintings with a single dot for thousands or even millions of dollars.

    • I have to check out his Bela Garody on Search for tomorrow. He was one of the main reasons EON worked for me when I was watching. Truly unforgettable presence. Handsome in the most perverse and sinister way. They don't make faces like that anymore.
    • My favorite moment in SOAPDISH is the HW taking the star to the mall in NJ to improve "morale"!!
    • Oh no! The shoulder pads! I will mourn them when they're gone. Please tell me the head pieces and hats remained!?
    • Shout! TV has now added season 26. Not sure what the reasoning for that was, but maybe it was the one that was ready to go...
    • It's AWFULLY hard to tell.  But out of the (approximately) 16 weeks so far in 2025, Bryton has only had about 12 episodes.  That's significantly less than 1 per week.  Once the actor drops down to less than 1 per week for an extended period of time (such as a 39-week cycle), I start thinking there's no contract in place for him or her.  Surely these folks aren't tying themselves down to a show for a guarantee of 1 or 2 episodes a month.   If I counted right, Bryton has had 21 episodes in the past 24 weeks.  They're either (a) about to kick into high-gear & work his ass off to meet his minimum guaranteed appearances, or else (b) he ain't got a contract that guarantees him squat.
