And women's demo is the only thing that matters to advertisers and networks -- otherwise ATWT would still be around. Total viewers mean very little, HH mean nothing. One week doesn't mean anything -- up or down -- it's trend lines -- four to six weeks that gives a better indication and even that has to be compared to previous year because of seasonal differences. (Winter high ratings -- spring low ratings)

I know that this is still true, though a part of me wonders if it's still as true now as it was 5 years back. And if it is... Why? Surely the idiotic ( :P ) networks should understand that now, when most women WORK in the day, they should be happy to get and count all the viewers they can get? I do think you're dead right that week to week means very little--it's how it goes over a period of time.

OLTL will have a drop when up against Y&R repeats. I bet Y&R 'Classics' beat ATWT numbers and rated no less than 2.0. OLTL has been gaining for weeks so a one week drop means nothing. OLTL is gaining viewers and will continue to do so with a mix of stunt casting (Zimmer) and decent story. OLTL gained 250,000 last week and I doubt that was a one time fluke.

Fearless Predictions

Y&R 3.5

B&B 2.3

Y&R (Repeat) 2.0

GH 2.0

OLTL 1.9

Days 1.8

AMC 1.8

Saving ATWT is my new favorite poster! I love your confidence in my show!!!

I do agree with the poster that said OLTL will lose 100,000 viewers or so... The 18-49 was a slighter drop than I anticipated. And based on that Monday press release against The Talk, OLTL is maintaing that 690,000 18-49 viewership for another 1.0. For OLTL to have any future I figure ABC wants a solid 1.2 18-49.

It's cute how quickly Saving ATWT has become a fan. I'm confused though--what markets is OLTL up against Y&R? Or what are these Y&R repeats? Here from the Seattle market, we got Price is Right and then double Make a Deal shows before The Talk premiered on CBS...

That said, I suspect OLTL will be back to a 1.8. It's kinda furstrating seeing how all these shows go up one, go down one, up, down... (I know, what's new...)

    • Shut up, Dante and Lois.  I actually don't mind this particular soap trope, but in the context of this storyline, it just feels forced and unnecessary. If anything, this Dante/Gio tension needed to begin months ago. Plus, this storyline, in general, isn't doing Lois any favors either.  Emma comforting Gio was really sweet though. It's definitely time for the two of them to have their first kiss. And, Joss playing Secret Agent Barbie will just never work.
    • Note to makeup - Smitty’s eyebrows, bad clamshell look.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
