August 31, 201015 yr Member I think Goutman started out strong on ATWT but tanked with the 2/3 production model and just lacked any real focus. He might actually be better than JHC but there are far better out there. I've never really understood why ABC didn't raid the Sony/Bell/CBS crew and try at landing someone like DS or ES. On the writing front, I get why they passed on Kay Adlen but AMC has needed a strong EP for a long time. Ed Scott has *reportedly* been clamouring for the position. He's definitely a mixed bag, but I wouldn't mind seeing what AMC is like under an EP with one iota of vision.
August 31, 201015 yr Member Fresh new start? More like last ditch survival tactic, AMC would've been cancelled had it not been moved to LA. Errol said it himself in this thread, did he not? OLTL is still in NYC, because they obviously had/have their funds in check. This has nothing to do with the network favoring one soap over another. In all actuality, OLTL had more to lose by moving the show to LA than AMC did. Of course that part will be ignored. I don't know the real reason why they moved, but I'm guessing Errol and everyone else who said it is correct. It all comes down to money. As far as AMC being over budget. even if Jamey hates AMC, why would he make something like that up? Maybe there's some validity to it??
August 31, 201015 yr Member Oh undoubtedly there is. Some being the key word. But people have taken that bit of info and run with it. It could just as easily be said that the fact that ABC now has two of their soaps based in LA, which means OLTL is on its way out than it could about AMC being shipped West. August 31, 201015 yr Member I ain't touchin' it. Lawda mercy! I can't -- I just won't... Sorry to be the one to break it to you but Jamey is a journalist and not a fanboy made good. He went to school for journalism and worked in the field for years before becoming an online blogger. He has excellent sources and doesn't seem to have the issues of other soap journalists have of breaking untrue stories. You may not like him, but he is a journalist.

Our point is that Jamey has ALWAYS HATED AMC for some reason. It's annoying when you get this kind of report from someone who HATES AMC. Yeah he talked badly about OLTL but he doesn't hate it. He love OLTL and hates AMC for some reason. He like Nelson. His love for OLTL is really sick and his hate for AMC is annoying. If you don't watch the show don't make an opinion. Period. I agree with All My Shadows. Even though AMC was in danger of being canceled ABC did SOMETHING big to try and save the show. I bet if OLTL was in danger it would be gone. They would not even think about moving it out of NYC. OLTL has and always will be the stepchild. It's obvious that ABC doesn't want to invest much in OLTL and that's really sad. GH has been getting money and the ratings really havn't done much. ABC should split it up but that won't happen espically with Brian Frons there. There is one change to make and it's to get Brian Fron's OUTTA HERE! Sorry to be the one to break it to you but Jamey is a journalist and not a fanboy made good. But we don't know how bad the situation really is. For all we know they could be over budget by...Let's say 1K. If they are journalist they WANT to spin stories to get more people to follow them.
August 31, 201015 yr Member Why doesn't he behave like one then? The question always comes back to "What is journalism?" I don't consider what Nelson does anywhere near the realm of journalism. I don't listen to the DC podcasts but their site seems to be mostly opinion with the occasional bit of casting news. Frankly LeClerc's opening post in the thread is the most in-depth bit of journalism I've seen where the AMC budget situation is concerned. Facts, numbers, research... that's what, IMO, makes for a journalist. Not a degree and a podcast.

For it to be an article, it has to obey certain rules of language and style, structure and so on. Facts, numbers and research make a statistical report of some sort.

The OP contains real information that can be verified or discounted. That's a whole lot more than we've gotten from these overheated fanboys. The soap press-verse is filled with so much innuendo, oneupmanship and starf***ing that the one thing it's sorely lacking is facts.

Mad Hatter is there for a reason. An no, it's not journalism.

Still doesn't change my opinion, so... no need to feel sorry for breaking anything to me. Why doesn't he behave like one then? You mean, "I can lose weight, but you can't grow brain" isn't the behavior of a professional journalist who responds to someone who disagrees with his "journalism?" Ya don't say?! More likely, a blog column. Or something like that. For it to be an article, it has to obey certain rules of language and style, structure and so on. Facts, numbers and research make a statistical report of some sort. Not to get all into this here, but there are several different styles of articles. What you're describing is more along the lines of a feature. What LeClerc wrote falls more into the category of an editorial. So you're both correct in your beliefs. However, marceline is justified in her assertion that LeClerc's post resembles an article with a bit more journalistic integrity than what these "real journalists" have put out there. It's an opinion supported by evidence. It's not, say, Nelson Branco's "AMC's the worst show ever because it has no gay people and is written by Charles Splatt! Oops, I mean Pratt! Like, sorry! I totally had Ron Carlivati's schlong in my mouth!" brand of "journalism." You know what I'm saying. The OP contains real information that can be verified or discounted. That's a whole lot more than we've gotten from these overheated fanboys. The soap press-verse is filled with so much innuendo, oneupmanship and starf***ing that the one thing it's sorely lacking is facts. I concur. Save that mess for the personal blogs and soap message boards. When I read articles, I want as much fact and information as I can get. I'll deal with your opinion later.
August 31, 201015 yr Member Everyone said all the same stuff about the LA Move and only 1 person had it right. IMO it's the samething this time around.
August 31, 201015 yr Member You must not log onto DC all of the time or listen to those webcasts. Jamey trashed the hell out of OLTL when KISH was dropped and he said he didn't give a sh*t about the show anymore. He's didn't say anything bad about AMC except them being over budget. And his comments probably had way more to do with Frons and his decisions than the show itself. Jamey and DC trashed OLTL for one week because Kish got canned and that was it, one week. Jamey Giddens and his cheerleaders trashes AMC repeatedly which is arguably their choice but when it's so obvious that they are commenting on stuff they haven't even seen, it's ridiculous and the one person who actually is watching AMC (Luke Kerr) gets run over. The only one with some brains on DC is J.Bernard Jones IMO. I have never doubted that what Jamey G. said about AMC could be true but I need more than some off handed comment in a podcast. If DC a(and Jamey Giddens) stands by their info then they should post a proper article, explaining why AMC is over budget and why OLTL isn't and why AMC might be on the chopping block over OLTL. I got more info regarding this issue in this very thread than anything Jamey Giddens has (yes, gleefully) said in a podcast to one up Larry Flick.
