I did the math on these, so obviously it's unofficial. :)

If GH didn't include Tuesday's 3pm ratings:

Total Viewers: 2,652,000 (+91,000)

W18-49 Viewers: 843,000 (+33,000)

HH: 1.9 (same)

W18-49: 1.3 (+.1)

W18-34: 0.9 (+.1)

How funny that AMC went up when it was not a big event week for that show (unless you count Kendall's latest return), while GH went DOWN. They actually LOST viewers.

And they LOST viewers in 18-49 female, which is precisely the demo which grew up watching Vanessa and should have tuned back in for her.

Even without the repeat numbers there's barely an increase.

It's time for GH to stop the stunts and to get a writer who is not a hack.

No bump for GH's 18 to 49 women demos. That is not good. You would think that people would have tuned in to see VM. GH also got no bump when Franco started both times. GH will likely get something when Sonny and Brenda finally meet.

So no ratings for the earlier GH repeats. The 3:00 p.m. repeat did better than I expect.

Toups, how did I get up +90,000? Same thing, though. Don't worry.

I think ABC thought those re-runs were going to get new episode ratings, obviously - and obviously they were wrong.

I'd give GH the 2,651,000 average despite ABC being stupid and counting Tuesday. That's still kind of sucky for "the great Vaness Marcil" but this will only truly be a failure when Sonny/Brenda's reunion (first time seeing each other) scenes also fail to get a significant bump.

I wonder even about that.

Both this and Jonathan Jackson's return should have been a solid boost to 18-49 female. A lot of women in that age range idolized Lucky and Brenda back in the day. Apparently GH's decade of ugliness towards women was enough to keep them away, either that or they just prefer to leave the past in the past.

LOL Yeah.

If it was up to me, I would've had VM's first episode on a Monday and I definitely wouldn't have done the 3 repeats.

But I do believe the ratings will go up once the story heats up and when she starts interacting with the citizens of PC again.

Too much time has past, too much ruination of the characters. S/B's reunion onwards will do better than this (fall, August is typically ABC's lowest rated month for the soaps, she'll begin connecting with PC characters) but this ain't going to be 2003. It'll be nice, eventually, but not 2003.

Her first episode was the highest of the week so that is a small victory for ABC.

I just saw OLTL's daily ratings. I predict that the Usual Suspects will engage in the weekly AMC/OLTL cancellation war. Prove me wrong, folks.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings didn't increase. I've grown apathetic about "big returns". I tuned in to GH one day last week, took a second of a peek. Yep, that was Brenda alright. And with my curiosity satisfied I changed the channel and haven't tuned in since. I don't think I'm alone. I don't think people care anymore. Maybe ten years ago, but not now.

    • Shut up, Dante and Lois.  I actually don't mind this particular soap trope, but in the context of this storyline, it just feels forced and unnecessary. If anything, this Dante/Gio tension needed to begin months ago. Plus, this storyline, in general, isn't doing Lois any favors either.  Emma comforting Gio was really sweet though. It's definitely time for the two of them to have their first kiss. And, Joss playing Secret Agent Barbie will just never work.
    • Note to makeup - Smitty’s eyebrows, bad clamshell look.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
