One of the names talked about as a potential Edward recast on GH in 2004 was Lloyd Bochner

He passed away the following year. Mr. Bochner was the original C.C. Capwell, he filmed promo material which can be seen on YouTube, but he had a heart attack and had to pull out. Fellow Dynasty alum, Peter Mark Richman replaced him starting with the first episode. Of course Jed Allen would become the most famous C.C.

Right LB died Oct 2005. Maybe he was too sick to do GH in March 2004

I liked Charles Bateman too. Peter Mark Richman and Paul Burke were horrible. To bad we never saw Lloyd Bochner. I bet he would have been great.

Alas, we'll never know. That's why I can't blame the first couple of actors completely for not making the part work. The show had to fill the spot as LB became ill at just about the same time filming was to begin, so it's no wonder the acting was so uneven.

PMR hated it and has admitted so. PB played CC like he was channeling game show host, Tom Kennedy and Alan Lutten

In 2009 Martha was up aganist Beth Ann Bonner & Alicia Leigh Willis for the role of Marah. After the cancelation announcement, GL decided not to bring Marah back

You could definitely tell while watching his scenes. Totally not into it.

And I dont get what Paul Burle's deal was

I've heard that as well. Supposedly, Brian Frons asked her back, but she refused, b/c she did not want that headache.

A THIRD ALICE HORTON??...1972 ARTICLE STATES MARY K. WELLS WAS OFFERED THE ROLE BUT TURNED IT DOWN...

"Days" fans might know that Mary Jackson portrayed Alice Horton in the first pilot that was taped back in the summer of 1965 (the role was recast with Frances Reid when NBC bought the pilot and turned it into a series). However, daytime history fan Matt has just unearthed this new piece of information, after browsing through a 1972 issue of Afternoon TV. In the issue, actress Mary K. Wells says she was offered the role of Alice Horton in 1965, but turned it down because she was living on the East Coast and didn't want to uproot her family and take her children out of school. She also stated that "I guess I love Betty Corday better than anybody in this business." Wells retired from acting in 1973 and then was a writer on "All My Children" for 20 years. She passed away in 2000.
