Outside of a couple of fuzzy TSS episodes that are on YouTube, my viewing experiences of Jada have solely been from seeing her on TD on Retro TV. She took over a role from a talented actress who had played that role for nearly a decade. She made the role her own. Jada just had an Everywoman presence.

When Peter Hobbs departed the role of Peter Ames in Feb 62 after 8 years he took a full page ad in Variety with his name, a photo and the words 'At Liberty' and a phone number.

Guess he wanted anyone who might be interested to know he was again available for work. According to IMDB he only had a couple of gigs in the following years but we know that can be unreliable.

Mr. Barrow played two roles on The Secret Storm.

I do not know the name of his first character, but he was a college president.   Later, he returned to the show to play a man who eventually became a candidate for Governor, Dan Kincaid.    Dan was the son of Kevin Kincaid.   He marreid Belle Clemons Britton.  Dan also had another son (race driver Robert Landers), and I am pretty sure that Dan had not known about Robert.     (Robert and Belle later had an affair, but Robert actually loved Joanna, the ward of Belle).

I (and probably many others) consider Dan the signature role of Bernard Barrow.    Dan was significantly different from Johnny on Ryan's Hope.

Mr. Barrow (in between these roles) played District Attorney Ira Gideon on The Edge of Night.   And that role too was significantly different from Johnny.   He also played roles on Where the Heart Is and I think Love of Life.    I also saw him on  The Doctors when the reruns first began.   (He was a television news reporter.)

I agree with danfling that Dan Kincaid was really Bernard Barrow's signature role. Would you rather play opposite Marla Adams' Belle or Helen Gallagher's Maeve? Johnny Ryan didn't have many story lines of his own, and Maeve seemed to wear the pants in the Ryan family. As Dan Kincaid, Bernard Barrow was right at the center of the action.

2 weeks before the show was to premiere CBS was sending out publicity photos with the show still titled 'The Storm Within'.

Didn't realize the name changed happened so late.

Actor Robert Morse, who originated the role of Jerry Ames on The Secret Storm in 1954, has passed away.    He was a wonderful performer, although I never saw any of his work on The Secret Storm.

Although it is commonly stated that Robert Morse originated the role of Jerry, the Variety review of the show has Dick Trask in the role of Jerry.

So it seems Trask was the first Jerry, although he may have only lasted a few episodes(or even just one) before Robert Morse took over.

My other thought is that perhaps Dick Trask never made it to air.

He may have been cast and his name supplied as part of the original cast, but for whatever  reason when the time came to go out live he was not available and Robert Morse was the one to appear as Jerry.

A possibility I guess.

    • It feels like the show hired Hank Northrop first and are still deciding what to do with him lol. I don't have a judgement on the character yet, but this non-story (so far) has been happening for at least a month and he's only made 2 appearances lol.
    • I know Anita mentioned that she no longer was investing in the trust, while Leslie had stated that the interest was multiplying at a decent rate... but I do have a feeling she'll wipe through the trust in a short amount of time with the amount of spending she's doing. The show always throws in tiny nuggets of foreshadowing and having Anita's remark and Eva warning her mother not to overdo the spending tells me that Leslie will be blowing through that money eventually.
    • I honestly don't care if Laura is friends with Sonny.  She's been friends with him for decades.  The way she goes about the friendship is stupid.   She has no sense of self-preservation or awareness about the optics of parading her friendship with Sonny around town.  She practically celebrates it.  There's no reason in the world she can't just keep the friendship low key and explain they share a grandchild and frame the relationship that way.  A lot of Laura's choices, like getting into a public fight with Dalton, just make her look silly and like a fairly incompetent mayor. Carly is another PC lady that's starting to look silly.  I know she's explained her plan a lot, but it's still stupid and moving at a glacial pace.  If Joss is 45 by the time her revenge plot unfolds, what's the point?  Just dump Brennen and move on please.
    • On that same note, it's astounding to have mobster Sonny in the same office with Mayor Laura chatting it up about their mutual grandson. Think about the reaction if John Gotti and Mayor Eric Adams had a friendship

?? I guess the Logic behind Sonny & Jason acceptance is like when i saw a documentary where FBI agents said they'd rather deal with the mafia than terrorists or cartels---they're the "lesser of 3 evils". Anyway I'm about 30 years late on this convo.
    • Im confused. Does Jessica know anything about June's relation to Tyrell? At the start of the episode, it seemed like June was gonna slip that he was her son but she caught herself but later in the episode she referred to him as "my boy" and Jessica had no reaction like that wasnt a surprise to her No, Anita was putting money in the account every 6 months but we werent told how much was in it when Leslie became a beneficiary. The show has set it up that it was multiplying based off the interest so that its really worth quite alot now. I dont buy it but thats what they've told us
    • What was the point in Lori's return as Mrs. Max Hollister? That little story never made much sense to me.  Were there plans for a permanent return? Or even a new family with her as the matriarch?
    • I guess it depends on your device.  I can watch CW shows via their website on my Windows PC.
    • Ooooo A Liam episode? I'll watch it later today. They sure are churning the daily episodes out early.
