Administrator Toups Posted May 8, 2010 Author Administrator Share Posted May 8, 2010 'THE EVENT' -- "The Event" is an emotional, high-octane conspiracy thriller that follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter, "The Class"), an Everyman who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, Leila (Sarah Roemer, "Disturbia"), and unwittingly begins to expose the biggest cover-up in U.S. history. Sean's quest will send ripples through the lives of an eclectic band of strangers, including: newly elected U.S. President Martinez (Golden Globe nominee Blair Underwood, "Dirty Sexy Money"); Sophia (Emmy Award nominee Laura Innes, "ER"), who is the leader of a mysterious group of detainees; and Sean's shadowy father-in-law (Scott Patterson, "Gilmore Girls"). Their futures are on a collision course in a global conspiracy that could ultimately change the fate of mankind. Ian Anthony Dale ("Daybreak") and Emmy winner Željko Ivanek ("Damages") also star in the ensemble drama. "The Event" is a production of Universal Media Studios and Steve Stark Productions. Stark ("Medium," "Facing Kate") serves as executive producer, Nick Wauters ("The 4400," "Eureka") is creator/co-executive producer and Jeffrey Reiner ("Friday Night Lights," "Trauma") is the director/executive producer; Evan Katz ("24") also is an executive producer. Administrator Toups Posted May 16, 2010 Author Administrator Share Posted May 16, 2010 Sold! Will watch full season. A serialized action thriller to replace '24'.
Members Khan
This might be a good recurring storyline to return to every now and then, but...what's the franchise? Is he solving crimes every week (that is, when not on the trail on this one)? Because, I wouldn't want this premise to be the focus of every single episode. You can't sustain a long-running series on just this. It'd get too murky and convoluted too quickly; and if it reaches a natural conclusion, but it's too soon before the magic number needed for syndication (88 episodes), where else do you go? Members OLTL_fan
So did anyone watch? How was it? I keep getting mixed reviews. Some like it, some dont. May just have to watch and judge for myself. It did well ratings wise. Theyre reairing it on Saturday.
Members Becki
I didn't like it. There was far too much jumping from the past to present. I simply couldn't keep up with what the heck was happening. I had a monstrous headache when it was over. I won't be watching again. But I know some folks that loved it too. I think it all depends on if you like the 24/Lost type shows. I don't but gave the show a try anyway.
Members EricMontreal22
Lost (when it was in its best seasons--ie not the last--as a character based serial, with the twists and secrets coming second) and 24, were vastly different shows though... But I kinda agree, I didn't think it was that good *as a pilot*. I liked a lot of the actors alright. I just didn't feel that compulsive hook the best pilots have. I'll prob watch at leas tone more. Meh (meh seems to be my attitude to the season this year in general).
Members Soapsuds
I felt the same way. The ratings werent that great. I only see the ratings dropping next week. Its a cheap ripoff of Lost. I did love seeing John Ritter's son on it. But I dont want to invest in a show that is/has some Lost parallels. Members AS THE WORLD TURNS
For NBC they are. Some of their other shows didn't premier as good as The Event.
Administrator Toups Posted September 24, 2010 Author Administrator Share Posted September 24, 2010 Aside from the time jumping, I don't see the similarities between Lost. The show is a serialized action thriller.....so of course I loved it! My jaw dropped when the plane disappeared! Great cast too! Members Soapsuds
They have low expectations...lol....And the second week is almost always a drop from the week before. I like Jason Ritter but not enough to invest in a show like The Event.
