We will see how I feel once I watch last night episode.

But I know my opinion has definitely been colored.

I agree. I don't see any real difference between Karen and Shannon other than the timing of their trips to rehab. Shannon is still drinking, still claims she doesn't have an alcohol problem. Karen, on the other hand, stayed pretty sober throughout this season.

Shannon took accountability in a way that Karen never did. She bullshtted, lied and deflected the entire time and then ran when she could no longer use those excuses. And Karen didnt stay sober. In her confessional 2 episodes ago she said she isnt sober; she just isnt drinking around these women.

I've gotta echo the same sentiment as others about the latest Potomac episode: the constant graphic details of Mia and Jacqueline's sex lives is unnecessary and cheapens the whole brand. I'm certainly no prude, but there are just some things I don't want to know about them, and I cringe to think the "real" people in their lives now know these things, too.

I feel the same whenever housewives get into details about their pubic hair. Whether it's smooth shaven, waxed, landing strip, or full unruly bush, I don't wanna know! lol

You are right. However, their circumstances at the time of filming are different.

Shannon could take accountability because filming resumed after she had already cut her deal with the prosecutor.

Karen, on the other hand, is still in active proceedings and awaiting sentencing, so she cannot admit wrongdoing. To do so would go against every piece of legal advice she received.

There is no question that Karen does need to take accountability and admit her mistakes. If she does, the audience will forgive her. If she remains deflecting, even after being found guilty, the tide will turn against her. But then again, there are still those who defend Teresa Giudice, and she remains a totally unrepentant convicted felon.

Respectully, those are excuses to me and that comes from someone that understands all this and gave her grace. If she was following very piece of legal advice, she'd have taken the plea deal which any  lawyer who saw that footage would have advised her to but thought she was high and mighty and could somehow beat it.

The lack of accountability isnt simply bc she didnt talk about it. She kinda did and what little she did had her lying. Talking about how she was distraught bc of Mother's Day, which was 2 months away at that time. She even blamed Ray and their marital issues for her state of mind leading to the crash. She really didnt have to say much. Acknowledging that there was a lapse of judgement and that she was sorry  for what she had done would have gone a long way in her public perception. She lied to the cast and audience when she told us all she'd be vindicated bc things werent what they seem. She was right bc things were worse than we imagined. Karen did everything she could to protect her image for the season and ultimately that was a disservice to herself. No one cares but her. The videos likely would have never been released had she accepted the plea and settled this but bc she handled it the way she did, she tarnished her legacy. Those images she will never live down and knowing how much her reputation means to her, I know its killing her on the inside

Sorry ya'll. I dont see it for the Grande Drunk and will drag her everytime now. Maybe she can redeem herself in time but Im not trying to give her that chance at the moment

OC

Looks like everyone is back.

ETA: And it seems like Katie vs Emily?

NY

Finale next week.

No worries.

Perhaps she will. But it will surely be an uphill battle.

Good decision! I was glad to see that. I think Katie deserves another season, even if she totally fumbled the ball at reunion.

Thinking of OC's 5 longstanding wives + 2 newbies, it reminds me of currently watching Married to Medicine with the core 5 + 2 newbies that are kind of outsiders (Phaedra, Sweet Tea).

    • Seeing Peter Bergman (Jack) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) act opposite each other really makes me mad that their short-lived reunion in 2012 was just that... short-lived. I've always loved the Jack/Nikki pairing.
    • No.  I recall there was also a mention about how distracting it was EOB's Gwen wasn't wearing nail polish as well.  That it was someone's pet peeve. And, yes, the fact characters can have a manicure in prison is the wildest continuity issue here.
    • Can anyone remember Mary Ellen Stuart's run as Jenny? I'm trying to fill in the cracks for missing stuff that we overlooked.  Bulletpoints:  * Dated Ross * Rusty's police partner * Directly responsible for Dinah coming forward about George Stewart (Cam's father)
    • But that's not weird... nail polish is allowed in prisons via commissary. Same with general makeup, haircuts, and hair colouring products.
    • This is DAYS, the show that said you could brainwash anyone with simple kitchen appliances.  An actor's nail polish or lack thereof should be the least of our concerns, lol.
    • It was not that she wasn't wearing nail polish, it is that she managed to get a manicure in prison
    • "We're Knot Done Yet": the name of this lovely podcast AND what JVA tells her plastic surgeon at every appointment. In other news, Michele Lee is reminding me more and more of my old music teacher from elementary school, and I couldn't STAND that bitch.
    • I apologize if this has been covered already, but does anyone know whether Douglas Marland was HW'ing by that point?  If he was, then I see what he meant when he said (in so many words) that he had inherited a mess when he started at GH.  Aside from Alan and Monica, none of that material seems very promising.  The story with Mark Dante and the Corbins is the wrong kind of predictable (y'know, the kind where you know what's going to happen, but you just don't give a crap?), the stuff with Scotty and Laura is cute but toothless, I don't know WHAT the hell Gina and Steve Carlson's character are arguing about and Rick Webber has to be the dumbest man alive not to see David Hamilton twirling his invisible moustache over how to make a killing off Lamont Corbin's declining health.  (By the way, "LAMONT CORBIN"?  What is this, "The Shadow"?  And "Corbin Limited" sounds like some jive I'd hear over on Y&R.) In a way, it's kind of like watching today's GH, right down to the dialogue that's serviceable and pushes plot along but says nothing about the characters' inner lives.
    • It absolutely was; the narrative was there, and they followed it promptly. Maybe that's back when women had babies at young ages?!?!?
