I can see them using this recast a lot during the first couple of months, and then he'll be thrown on the eternal backburner with the rest of the black people on this show.

1st & 15th.

Yes, because MAB is SUCH a racist. I can totally picture her sitting on her porch in a rocking chair with a shotgun accross her lap, "waitin' for coons".

Well, I wouldn't go THAT far; but yeah, there is a tendency not to utilize the minorities on this show to any great effect. Remember when Devon slept with Tyra? It felt to me like Neil was over and done with it in about a day.

I just feel bad for this guy, because him being cast in this role is SO not going to work. He's already being ripped to shreds and none of his scenes have aired yet. If Shemar ever decides to come back, Y&R will drop Darius faster than they did William Russ.

Right before I read you're post I said to myself "poor guy". That interview sounded optimistic but yet somehow still misguided. In a wierd way I hope he passes the test of time but I don't see it happening unless it is processed by the same forces that curses me with CK.

Even if he does good it still going ot look bad. How can he be a threat to Cane. Without Cane laughing in his face. The guy look younger then Cane.

I can't see Phylis or Dru with this Malcolm. Unles they rub the cradel.

Better be careful. Sue will meet you outside!

Sue's not leaving her trailer unless Ore Ida is involved.

How can he be a threat to Cane.

TPTB aren't gonna let him be a threat to The Chosen Ostrich.

He's definitely being set up to fail but MAB probably has another undo in the works and then he'll go the way of TB.

Listen, if you two cannot do each other's braids nicely, then don't do 'em at all!

Will he get to interact with MS? I really loved her chemistry with Shemar.

They want to cast people who won't work so that they can blame the actor rather than the writing when the character flops. This is why I think they are so eager to constantly introduce new characters while backburnering many of the more popular vets.

As young as he is (or looks), he'll probably try to roll up on Summer.

Do any of the other black characters get to interact with MS? You'll think they let CKLily interact with her since she use to be her daughter in law but it seems like Lily is confide to only Mac & Cane.

He probably hang out with Eden & them. The way he looks & the was Lily acts I believe that's where the writers are heading. They going to say to Lily. You played house long enough it's time to hang out with the pre teens.

Oh, come on. I, for one, won't begrudge Darius McCrary for taking the part (just as I didn't begrudge Jamie Luner for accepting the role of Liza Colby on AMC), but you have to admit, "Eddie Winslow" is a bit of a letdown from Shemar Moore.

Yeah, whoever it was that said we got Cary Grant replaced with Ernest Borgnine hit that nail right on the head.

Good luck to the guy,but part of Malcolm's essence was his sexuality.Remember all the times we'd see Malcolm with shirt off.

I think Darius is kind of cute in a bearcub way,but not Shemar type at all.

It would be like replacing Eileen Davidson with Allison Janney.

If you put Jermaine Jackson's hair on his head then you have a California Raisin. The difference between this and Liz Kiefer as Blake on GL or Marg Helgenberger as Siobhan on RH or Kassie Wesley as Blair on OLTL is that THOSE WOMEN CAN ACT! Based on what I've seen...he can't. Not only that, but he's miscast. You can look differently from the previous actor and still be a perfect fit for the role. Look at Jack. Terry Lester and Peter Bergman look nothing alike, but both have that same fire, that charisma and can charm the pants off the ladies. The ladies I mentioned were also perfect fits despite not looking similar.

I do feel bad for Darius McCrary. He shouldnt be blamed. What was he suposed to do? Turn down a contract role? You go find me an out of work (for the most part) actor that is going to turn down a contract role in todays world and i will show you someone who is crazy.

I, however, do understand why people will not even give him a chance. I wont. Its nothing personal to him for me. But he is not malcom. He cant be. No matter what. Not to say SM is the greatest actor of all time, but he brought Malcom to life. He is what made him work. Its how i feel about Vanessa Marcil as Brenda on GH. Can the role be recasted? Sure. Should it? Never. Because without Vanessa there is no Brenda, and thts how i feel it is with SM/Malcom.
