Yeah, Pierce's cabin was on Phoebe's property. I have on tape Brooke's first meeting with Pierce (she and Phoebe had brought him some sort of gift basket, while Janet and Laura hid out of sight), and there's definitely some flirty/giddy energy from Brooke. Pierce remarks that it's nice to finally meet the girl who used to tool around on the back of Sago's motorcyle (get it, Pierce has been "around" for years ;) ) and Brooke does her little Brooke chuckle.

I didn't realize he was meant to have been around so long--so he just kept to himself cuz of his war scars? In the Worlds Without End book that accompanied the Museum of Broadcasting's exhibit there's an essay on gay fans and it mentions ina survey that the number one male character on AMC that gay men found most attractive was Pierce (the first Pierce back then)--I forget who women found but it was someone else.

Is there a pic or youtube clip fo the first Pierce? Or the very short lived second one? I remember quiteliking the story at the time, but the only Pierce I remember is when they brought him back as Caulfeld a half year or so later.

This is the first Pierce, the Pierce of that scene I described, Jim Fitzpatrick: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm485066752/nm0280541

This is Pierce #2, Greg Wrangler: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm421633280/nm0942010

I have an episode with him as well, I only remember because it is so damn Passions random, the scene starts with him doing bicep curls.

And of course you know what Miles Colby Pierce #3 looks like. :P

ETA: And yes, I guess the premise was that he sorta kept to himself up there. And to be honest, I don't mind that variety of "retconning" if you would even call it that. To me, it's just like adding layers to the cake, like the relationship Mona may have had with her friendly butcher that we never saw, you know what I mean?

A couple of snapbacks made me realize there were quite a few things I missed Thanksgiving weekend. Blame it on the alcohol.

You mean "one of" the most vocal opponents. Not only have I been a parade pisser when it came to people thinking that the best way to save the show was to bring an 80 year old woman out of retirement to head write 250 hours of television, but also scoff at the theories that Agnes Nixon was "secretly ghostwriting" from 2007 to 2008. I swear daytime has got to be the only genre where its talent isn't allowed by their fans to retire with their dignity in tact.

He was a huge fan of Palmer and Daisy and enjoyed working with Gillian Spencer. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't doing cartwheels over Palmer and Opal, because that meant a stall, if not an end, to P&D.

I remember that. I also remember a scene when Opal was in the bedroom, getting ready for bed at her makeup table. Palmer walked in on her without her baubles and loud clothing and fake hair... and he said she was the most beautiful he's ever seen her. I that was a large part of what was conflicting Palmer with Opal. He loved the woman, but didn't like what he viewed as the tacky, audacious, over the top crap that she piled on top.

One of my favorite, most memorable scenes EVER was when Erica found Opal after Palmer had locked her in the secret room. Jill Larson turned that scene OUT!!

Kit Fisher was a lazy amalgamation of several Aunt Meg's cliched trademarks. Kit Fisher: Mysterious Lurking Blonde with a promiscuous past who ran cons and turns out to be someone's long-lost sister returned from the dead who was redeemed of her sexual immorality by rape. This was immediately following Camille Hawkins... another mysterious lurking blonde.

The Kit Fisher storyline featured one of my favorite scenes, ever. In which just after Jack revealed out of the blue that he had a heretofore unmentioned sister, we got a "dramatic audio flashback." Close-up on Jack's anguished face as we hear a bunch of kids in voice-over. "Jack, let's play on the lake!" "Okay, Chrissie!" *SPLOOSH, WATER NOISES* "Chrissie! Chrissie! No!" It was so abrupt and hilarious, it was like something out of Robert Hays' war flashbacks in Airplane!

Well the actress played both parts. :) If the writers didn't want them to be twins then the actress shouldn't of played both parts. ROFL!

Huh?! Hot water? What do you mean?

You have it?!!?! :) Awesome! Can you put it on youtube? :)

Huh?! Saying sorta means you have a nervous stutter?

This drives me crazy too as I think you know. Whilesadly I don't think soap fans are the only obsessed fans who won't let their legends retire with dignity--I also find it ridiculous how whenever even a SCENE would occur that some people enjoyed on AMC suddenly you'd hear that Agnes Nixon ghost wrote it... LOL

I remember that scene being amazing! Funny I hadn't thought of it but it's so clear now.

I think names like Kit and Kat should be retired from soaps.

sonya, I will post those scenes on YouTube in the new year. Maxwell Caulfield (aka Miles Colby) was Pierce #3: http://teenhlwdphotos.s3.amazonaws.com/004247/0014657869.jpg He is married to Juliet Mills (Tabitha, Passions).

I agree that the elder vets shouldn't be, and most likely don't care to be, overworked. I do however think that there are more artful ways to weave them into scenes and stories, something that hasn't really been taken advantage of. Then again, when all of your frontburner twenty- and thirtysomethings have absolutely no ties to the grand characters that came before them, yeah, you gotta get more creative.

Eric, I attended that Worlds Without End exhibit at what was then the Museum of TV & Radio, including the AMC symposium with Agnes Nixon, Julia Barr, David Canary, Walt Wiley... I think that was it. A very special night!
