Apparently someone just made that up? The details do sound kinda fake.

Here's the only thing I found about it:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.tv.passions/browse_thread/thread/b9b9d843ff255c30/f558d70c4c693544?q=%22thunder%27s+secret%22#f558d70c4c693544

Then Blueeaglex posted

I remember Blueeaglex, who was an honest poster and he/she always posted articles from the mags. I would believe him/her.

Shame, I always thought that sounded like it could have been amazing. I wonder if launching a soap similar to that would be a hit nowadays, the whole vampire genre is everywhere and I wonder if adding something like that to the daytime lineup of, say, NBC could revitalize the genre.

In 72,ATWT writer Winifred Wolfe and producer Mary Harris, had a proposal for a 60 min soap titled 'Yesterday's Child...Tomorrow's Adult'.

It was reported at least one network was interested in the possibility of a 1hr soap(3 years before AW went to an hour).

SOD reported in March 88 that Peggy O'Shea had interest from Fox in 'Blue Point',which would dramatize the lives in a resort community. Each summer, holiday visitors from the city would corrupt the lives of the town folks, particularly its youth. Each winter, the residents of Blue Pont would regroup and find their inner strength again.

OK, thought so but was just checking. I can, I just think that it's a concept a network wouldn't have the patience to see playout over even one full year lol. (and what happens if test and focus groups complain when the big city kids go home cuz they liked those characters more ;) ). But I do agree.

I wish Showtime would get back into soaps though I can't honestly tell how many daily soaps they tried--there's next to no info on Marland's New Day in Eden, and even less about Pat falken Smith's country and western bar/music themed soap on Showtime (imdb doesn't even list it so I can't find the title! lol)

Never heard of that one, just Coming of Age.

Whoopi Goldberg and Frank Langella were working on a primetime sudser called Harlem. In it, Langella and Harry Belafonte would star as brothers, the drama revolving around their interracial family. I guess things fell through when Whoopi and Frank split.

    • Which is what I'm sure the show wanted. Now Liz can be ready for Finn's triumphant return.
    • I am so damned embarrassed to be an American with that...thing...at the helm.
    • Jan was supposed to be a Dupree family housekeeper, which connected Ashley to Naomi... but I'm pretty sure they dropped that storyline.
    • Very sorry to hear of her passing. Aside from a few clips I've only ever "known" her through scripts and photos, but she along with the rest of the original cast helped make a show that changed daytime forever. We're still talking about one of her major stories on here to this very day.
    • That's a lovely photo. RIP.

    • I'll miss him too (still can't believe those were actual publicity photos - Joe Breen must have had a coronary), but he won't be gone forever.  Rauch did well at making people feel they were important (as long as they were willing to play along). That's probably why Erika Slezak loved him (he also gave her better story than he gave Zimmer). I think Kim has a certain amount of self-awareness but also needed to feel like she was the big star and desperately needed by the show. Wheeler was clearly incapable of expressing that.
    • Nicole has 2 assistants but no one else gets any staff (that we see). Are Dani and Hayley fixing meals and clearing blocked drains? I think they need to establish that they have some assistance. Vernon and Anita need to have a visible housekeeper. Give the Duprees some help!
    • . Her husband posted the following message: "The love of my life. The brightness in my life which is now so dimmer. In April I lost you and I miss you so much and I hope you are at peace. Lost Pam due to things beyond what was going on in her life. The original Peggy Brooks on The Young and the Restless and many more shows and commercials and then the creator of Chocolate Fortunes. So beautiful and a hell of a sense of humor. Great laugh, Great smile and Great compassion. You are my sidekick forever. Will miss you and all your sharp barbs. The angels are with you my beautiful angel. Fly safe and be happy. Much love and kisses forever."

    • I grew up in a neighborhood behind the gates and it really wasn't uncommon to have your house unlocked. In my neighborhood there was an armed gate before you enter the neighborhood and you have security patrolling 24/7. One thing that was common when I was in high school were for the kids whose parents were real estate agents to use their houses to throw house parties. It was easy because they were always unlocked.
