Beverlee McKinsey four consecutive Lead Actress nominations. These were the races

1977: Nancy Addison, Helen Gallagher (winner), Beverlee McKinsey, Mary Stuart, Ruth Warrick

1978: Mary Fickett, Jennifer Harmon, Susan Seaforth Hayes, Laurie Heineman (winner), Susan Lucci (her first nomination), Beverlee McKinsey, Victoria Wyndham

1979: Nancy Addison, Irene Dailey (winner), Helen Gallagher, Susan Seaforth Hayes, Beverlee McKinsey, Victoria Wyndham

1980: Julia Barr, Leslie Charleson, Kim Hunter, Judith Light (winner), Beverlee McKinsey, Kathleen Noone

Kim Zimmer original run four Lead Actress nominations resulting in three wins. These were the races

1985: Deidre Hall, Susan Lucci, Gillian Spencer, Robin Strasser, Kim Zimmer (winner)

1986: Elizabeth Hubbard, Susan Lucci, Peggy McCay, Erika Slezak (winner), Kim Zimmer

1987: Elizabeth Hubbard, Susan Lucci, Frances Reid, Marcy Walker, Kim Zimmer (winner)

1990: Jeanne Cooper, Elizabeth Hubbard, Finola Hughes, Susan Lucci, Kim Zimmer (winner)

Beverlee McKinsey no Lead Actress nominations for GL but had she gotten nominated in 1991, 1992, 1993 she could have easily won at least one of those years as the Lead Actress races I thought were rather weak.

Still shocking that Liz Hubbard never won an EMMY as Lucinda. Especially, for the aforementioned years.

Actually kalbir said it but I just wanted to add in case anyone does not know that she did not submit the entire time she was on GL. Probably everyone does know.

ATWT never had a new model and it only lasted about a year longer. I wish both shows were still on - I'd bring both back if The Gates does OK - but they were lucky to have survived as long as they did, especially GL.

The new model CBS deemed for ATWT was a totally different narrative structure. You cannot say they had no new model!!! Before CBS scared P&G into saying, basically, We'll do anything just don't cancel us & CBS said for each soap. ATWT did not have pod storytelling before that time.

I was talking about location shooting. The rest is off topic to the thread so I will stop.

Did Beverlee McKinsey ever discuss publicly why she didn't submit her work during her run on Guiding Light?

Annette

Yes, she talked about realizing she did not enjoy losing.

That wasn't my quote what you quoted. You might've altered it. Only thing I said on the topic was it was shocking that Liz Hubbard didn't win an EMMY for her time on ATWT...

I didn't alter anything. It's just the way the software does it when you're quoting 2 people back. But it is why I mentioned that the attribution was wrong.

No problem. I just wanted to bring that to your attention.

Thanks for posting that interview---I'll admit, I had no idea Bev had done any of that. Not having grown up watching AW, I've never looked up her time there.

You would have thought that P&G would've learned it's lesson after losing her from AW/Texas over working conditions to not have done the same on GL

I'd have to see Bev's drawling "daddy", but Maeve clipped "now, dad-dy dar-ling" certainly rates a mention.

Rub it in, why don't you?! AW had Maeve first. Due to Paul Rauch we lost her. Our loss was GL's gain.

Her son Scott had this for years but he didn't know what he had. I got his permission to get it out in the soap universe as soon as I realized what a hidden gem it had been. He now proudly says it is her "most candid & best interview". So very glad you enjoyed it!!!
