The GL director told him to calm it down...Deas says he got pissed and just started sleepwalking through the scenes...which was fine by me!

God bless that director! LOL. Once he calmed down, I enjoyed him.

When did she say this?

During one of the Locher shows...she said she "thinks" she was fired to free up money for "Justin."

I am sure during the Rauch years Deas took pay cuts, just to continue working and getting that insurance, which I think is fine but as someone said, if only it was on a show I want watching.  The writers did love writing for him, one of them was Hurst, who couldn't believe it when I posted something about not liking Buzz or the Coopers. She has mentioned that she felt the Coopers were like a warm blanket for her but I don't think she got them, or at least the Pam Long original intention (I actually like Hurst, she is willing to take criticism of the writing when she was there, admiting that there weere a lot of chefs in the kitchen.

I just read the transcript and the ONLY time Justin Deas is mentioned is when Tina Sloan talks about how great it was to work with him. NEVER did Ellen Parker ever mention Justin Deas in that interview

Now that i think about it, did James Reborn ever stick anywhere for long? He's on GL less than a year, even though he returns a couple of time for short arcs. He's not on ATWT for long stints either.

I know he was constantly working, he was a good actor.

What was the original intent of the Coopers?   I know eventually they were revealed to be Greek American, and they even had an olderly grand father/great grand pa named Pops that kind of surrogate raised Frank and Harley.

Was the original intent that Frank and Harley raised one another?  I know that both of them would mention how Nadine abandoned them (I even remember a scene between Nadine and Frank during Christmas 1992 where Frank was still upset at Nadine over how she had abandoned him/Harley) yet both Harley/Frank seemed to quickly forgive Buzz in a matter of months.. even though what he did was far worse.

And the character of Lucy on paper seemed a good idea... a child that Buzz had raised, but the casting and writing for the character never really worked.

Is that the genius kid who Quint and Nola took up with? I remember him on Texas. He played Pam Long's character's secret kid.

According the Frank D., he was originally up for the character of Johnny Bauer. But they liked him so much (ahem, thought he was so hot, LOL) that they created the role of Frank for him. I assume they made the character Greek because the actor is Greek-American.

My impression of the original Frank/Harley/Cooper dynamic is that they were a new iteration of the Reva/Roxy/Shayne dynamic. Close siblings who had been abandoned by a parent. (Altered so that Frank and Harley were abadoned by their mother instead of father, and later they find out that the father they thought was dead was actually alive). Definitely, Harley was an attempt to create a "Mini-Reva."

Didn't they think Buzz was killed in Vietnam? So they grew up thinking their dad was a hero and he turned out to be a deadbeat? If so, yeah, they forgave him WAY too fast.

I know Pops provided for them, but it seemed like Frank "raised" Harley. He ran an illegal chop shop when she was pregnant with Daisy. They thought Buzz was dead, so you understood why initially Frank was very resistant to Nadine's return. It took Harley a little longer to realize Nadine was selfish and self-absorbed (or to see it was wrong, Harley was the same way.)

In Nadine's case, I think both Frank and Harley just realized she was never going to really change. She never did anything as devious as the Peter debacle, but she was never going to be a straight arrow type.

I also think Eleni kind of worked on both of them to forgive Buzz. Harley's issues were probably brushed under the rug a bit with Ehler's first exit. But I think I recall her still being a bit bristly with him at times because of it.

Yes. And Nadine later admitted that she built up the "Buzz, King of Fifth street" lore so they'd have someone to be proud of. Buzz had a criminal history prior to going into the army. He may have faced jail time and been given the choice of that or the army.

It was also rumored that Pamela Long wanted Carla Borelli for Reva.

Fun fact - Gail & Pam wanted to cast Jerry Lanning as Billy Lewis. However it seems the network & P&G felt there were too many ex-Texas actors on the show, and told Gail Kobe & Pam Long to put a halt on hiring anymore former Texas actors

Pamela Long created the Coopers with Harley, Frank, Pops, Nadine and Nancy Curlee expanded the family with Stavros and Eleni. JFP watch saw the intros of Buzz and Lucy and the Coopers being elevated to a main family.

I asked this before but which family expansion/elevation did more damage, Lewis or Cooper?

He was not up for the part of Johnny Bauer - he already cast as Johnny's brother, Todd Bauer. As Sheri Anderson made plans to expand the Bauer family with a new head of the family, Lainie & Jack Bauer, along with Lacey Bauer in an attempt to duplicate the four musketeers.

But the ink was barely dry on Frank D. contract before Sheri Anderson was fired and Pam Long was re-hired. She immediately ditched the Tood Bauer character, and instead created a brand new character of Frank. She dropped the Lacey Bauer character, and created Harley Cooper to replace Lacey in the new four musketeers. She marginalized Lainie & Jack Bauer, and instead had Hawk & Sarah Shayne run "Company"

Oh, right. Now I remember. (I probably was trying to forget it, LOL).

Here's a thought: since the "new" Bauer branch belly-flopped, if the head writer hadn't changed, does anyone think Frank D. would have stayed with the show until the end of its run? Probably not!

This was probably a much better outcome. The girl who played Lacey was SO green, I doubt she would have lasted even if Long hadn't returned. Ehlers was good right out of the gate.

If they had really wanted to revive the Bauers, they could have brought back Mike and Hope (with a not so quickly SORASED Alan Michael).
