When you think about it, an Ed/Mo breakup at this point should have been way jucier and more dramatic than it ended up being.

The whole thing is so underwritten and boring..its like Long was dying to get back to...Jeva and Reva bellowing to her family at RevaBend. (at least the Shaynes had the good sense to skip the BBQ this year.)  Ed's ex-wife who had had a super complicated relationship with is back in town..its should have happened slowly, with Ed back in protector mode (well, I can't see PS Ed as a protector but) of both him and "Chrissie," but its like "Oh hi, want to move in, my current wife moved out..and ya wanna start banging again?" This should have brought back Ed's addiction issues, Rick who was on standby during the original drama should have been on Mo's side, but he is Mr. Sadsack again, coming in and telling people that he is separated (I wanted Johnny and Chelsea to ask "Who,, you're married? Oh yea, we forgot.")EVERYONE at the BBQ should have been giving them the side eye and making Holly feel like an intruder...(thus making her decision to leave the house)

Mo should have immediately been friendly to Roger just to bug the crap out of those two.

The only person besides Chelle who seems to care is Chelsea, but she is all "Well, at least we have a BBQ to go to." I wish Tony or one of her brothers were around to beat the crap out of DickEd. You can tell  Long did not care unless Reva suddenly became a marriage counselor and is involved..but then Ed and Mo would have to go on and on about how they wish they had their "Always"!

You got that right!  I felt for those two actors who played Johnny's parents.  They were TOTALLY ignored by everyone, even their own son! Everyone raves about the Bauer BBQ, but it seemed boring to me.  Ed, Maureen and Holly are horrible hosts.

Johnny and Chelsea were making out in front of everyone and people walked by and said nothing.

Those two actors were put on contract too! I kept expecting Lacy Bauer to return!

Lol on Johnny and Chelsea I noticed there make out session in front of everyone and I wanted to someone to yell, "Get a room!" The BBQ was so boring that year I think everyone was half asleep. This definaltey seemed like more of a Marland written party, where everyone there is too polite to say how bored they are and "Let's go to the lake and watch the fireworks!"

I find I am becoming quite fond of this alternate Guiding Light!!!!

Looking back at the timeline, now I know why we never got flashback scenes when Roger and Holly were dating in 1971. There was another actress playing Holly until 1976!  That sucks.

Are there any pictures or vid of The Metro?

@Mitch64 I wish that is how it went. Maureen being friends with Roger would be why Holly blames Roger and rely on Ed.  That way the Bauer family is interacting with Roger and Holly like the Spaulding family did.

Forgot to mention how Samantha sure has a thing for older men!

The Bauers should have been as involved with them as the Spaudlings.  I would have written Mike back in secretly investigating Roger being alive...with him crashing on the island with Alex. Mo moving back to the Boardinghouse (and kicking the fake Bauers and Shaynes out) and actually friending Roj to bug her husband but then liking him (I would have Roger admit the rape to Mo to start his redemption) and Rick feeling his old issues with his dad (instead of once again being screwed by proxy by Phillip..boys boys, just do each other and leave the third party out of it) and Blake manipulating his familial affection in her schemes.

I need to find these scenes again.  It's always interesting to read about how Michael was like to work with.

DONNA HANOVER ALL BUBBLY AFTER HER SOAP OPERA STINT – New York Daily News

@Mitch64 I really wish Sonni/Roger's storyline was longer.  I wonder where they were planning to go with them.

I wouldn't have had Maureen be true friends until after she finds out about the affair with Lillian. Roger hides her out & people think she is dead. So many ramifications from that!

AND... she's pregnant! (Why not? There have been way crazier soap miracle pregnancies). Roger has a double reason to hide her because he has always felt Ed robbed him of his relationship with Chrissie.

I don't know why JFP didn't do that..but she wanted Mo..DEAD..DEAD. Easy enough after their fight, Ed begs her to stay the night at the cabin, he wakes up and hears her care going..he goes after her..she slides off, but the old reliable hitchhiker who dies in a flaming wreck. Also, Mo would have to be in a coma to make that work, she would never let her daughter or the rest of her family (no matter what other writers tried to do..the Reardons of  Marland and Long were tight...) believe she was dead.

Ugh.  That's true that Maureen could never fake being dead.

I know how I could make it work!  Maureen knows that Ed would eventually go to the cabin. She doesn't even tell Vanessa and goes to Roger and tells him she just needs a few days alone.  He helps her hide out in the mansion (like he did when he was Adam Malik). Everyone is freaking out and thinks she is dead when they hear about a car wreck near the cabin!

@DeeVee  Yeah!  That would be cool if she were pregnant.

The whole being jealous of Ed raising Christina, I would have a situation where Roger had to take care of Meg for a short time.  I would have also closed out Roger's storyline differently if they wanted to use Lame Roger/Amanda going to Cali.  In 2004, I would have had a knock at the Spaulding mansion door with news that Roger & Amanda were declared dead in a private jet crash with a 5/6 year old girl survivor!  Amanda nor Roger didn't want their child involved with the drama and never told anyone about the girl...I guess her name would be Jennifer (Roger's mom's name wouldn't work).

I just saw an old All My Children 1992 episode on another forum where they had a tornado!  No wonder GL didn't do as well.  The blackout was good (although full of plot holes), but they never came close to that natural disaster episode on AMC

1994 and it was AMAZING ;) Great direction, production, acting and started a few amazing storylines... glad you enjoyed that episode!!!  And you'll see Grant Aleksander there at AMC at the time.

I'm tempted to compile a list of all the actors from TGL whom I find/found the most desirable, and see how many SONers have the great taste to agree with me!🙃

Keeping it real here, I never checked for any of the GL males. Maybe that's because I watched in real time when I was in middle school and high school.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around MZ being checked for. I like MZ as an actor but I never gave his looks any thought, plus I never thought of Roger as any type of anti-hero/romantic leading man.

One word: amnesia.

Yes, it's trite, yes, it's a cliche, but it's way better than Mo being dead-dead. If we can accept TWO characters who dated each other surviving falls off a cliff, we can accept this, too. 😂

She was legally married to him and lived with him for years in that house. She absolutely had a claim on it, at least half of it. And Ed openly living with Holly and committing adultery? She could have probably won the house in a divorce case. The problem for her was that Ed and Claire never allowed her to adopt Michelle. Ed could have used that as leverage.

All that because she briefly lusted after Fletch in her heart.

When you think about it, an Ed/Mo breakup at this point should have been way jucier and more dramatic than it ended up being.

No, she doesn't have any claim on the house.   Her time is up, and it was time for her to leave.

And I'll be honest.... I didn't like Mo and wasn't heartbroken when she was killed off.  She judged, she victim blamed, and she was kind of bitch to her own husband... and she sided with a rapist (Roger) over his victim (which showed she wasn't objective).

In fact, I think Michelle marrying and falling in love with a mobster was partly due to the shoddy example set forth by Maureen (who seemed to treat a rapist nicer then she did other people).

Wait----WHAT? MO NEVER ADOPTED MICHELLE?

Is it just routine taken aback reaction that any temp provokes or was there something specific about it being Anna, or was it just being NotMaeve?

Was Sophia Landon Greier also a tempVan? Or was she just a temp Donna for Anna?

I don't think it's anything specific about Anna I dislike. It's just that Maeve had established these layers in Vanessa, where Anna played it a little looser than Maeve would have, if that makes any sense.

Sophia Landon Geier was never a temp Vanessa. She did sub in for Anna Stuart I recall someone saying. Sonia Stuart subbed in for Maeve in the '90's, and just has no presence whatsoever.
