And, Vicky W didn't want them &  she got a whole big amount of criticism over it.

Well, SHE didn't have to raise them, LOL.

No, no, I get it. Working with kids, especially babies, can be a nightmare. Twins? Super yikes!

I'm convinced the reason Cricket on Y & R never had kids is because Lauralee Bell didn't want to be upstaged by them. She made comments in interviews about what a pain it was to have them on set.

I remember seeing an outake once of Steve Burton working with a baby on GH, trying to say his lines while the kid fussed. When they said cut, he started yelling that he was going to go out and get a vasectomy! (Didn't he end up having a bunch of kids? Anyway, it was really funny).

I was also surprised to hear this recently. Back in the day, he was supposedly in a relationship with actress Marcia Cross when she was on OLTL. He used to wear a Claddagh ring. (It's an Irish symbol with a heart held by hands and topped with a crown. The way you wear it indicates where you are in a relationship). He claimed he and Cross had exchanged rings and he always wore his on screen no matter what character he was playing. They never got married. She married eventually, but he never did.

Okay its a Datalounge rumor..but it seems to add up...Malloy definatley had personality issues and the drinking..supposedly Cross is gay also. Someone posted a story where one the cast members recall Larking bringing Cross to a party and they had a fight and big scene and broke up...which seems suspiciously theatrical!

Though Sharon Gabbot alludes to them sleeping together but Sharon, great as she is, is like someone's cool crazy aunt.  So I would think he was maybe bi, or you know some actor's will f*ck just everything on two legs.

Lillian as the Bauer matriarch, I don't know how that would have gone over with an audience who still blamed her for Mo, even if it takes two to tango as my Mom would say.

I think it would have been tougher with Rachel Miner still playing Michelle, but by that point the Bauer family had been made completely alien, aside from Rick, who wasn't there when Maureen died anyway.

I'm still surprised, and pleased, they remembered her part in Maureen's death for the final episodes.

(I know some might joke her marrying Buzz was part of her penance)

yeah, I hadn't really thought about that when Mike/Lillian crossed my mind. But, Michelle having to deal with her family dynamic instead the endless Santos hoo-ha might've been refreshing.

I am certain saw an article once where he talked about his relationship with Cross. I was digging around earlier to see if I could find it, but no. However, I did come across some articles from the EON era, where he made a point of saying he had a girlfriend, but not naming her because he wanted to keep his personal life private. There were others where he said he wanted to eventually marry and have kids. Which are things MANY known gay actors have said in interviews, because they were obligated to stay closeted. (Also non-gay actors, because they said it and meant it. So it's hard to know for sure).

Hey, soaps run on conflict. This would have been a great one. The Bauers, who barely tolerated Lillian, suddenly having her at the head of the family. Mike and Lillian being strong together and, after many confrontations and much sorrow, eventually winning them over.

I would have watched the crap out of that.

The more I see of 1986 the more I wish they had tried out a Fletcher/Reva relationship. I like them together. I also just like Fletcher in general. I know he's not a fave around these parts, but I like him a lot in the 1986 episodes. It probably helps that other characters have to spout some extremely melodramatic dialogue. Poor Larkin Malloy.  Maeve keeping Ben away from Kyle makes no sense and it makes everyone look like fools. I haven't seen the infamous Calla. She must have left already. I might have to go further back to see what all the fuss was about. I can't decide if Susan Pratt is just completely over the top over or if her character is meant to be a lunatic. Her line readings are really bizarre.

Pratt was just a very...unique actress. She was probably more suited to '40s noir than soaps, although she did have talent and some charisma, which is probably why she managed to work in soaps for as long as she did even though I don't think any of her roles were ever well-received. Claire was probably her most popular soap role, which says it all.

Barbara may have been the role which best utilized her, at least the first few years of the part.

Pratt is not boring. I will give her that. I just don't know what to make of the character. Even though I never watched this period, I know of some of the 1986 stories from reading about them, but her character is the one that eludes me beyond the Fletcher/Maureen/Ed/Claire stuff. I assume she doesn't last much longer as I know Fletcher goes on to have a relationship with Maeve.

Susan Pratt would have been a solid Reva Shayne, better than Zimmer.

What an interesting idea. I must admit that Kimmer has me snowed as to her & the Zimmer of it all. I stretched my brain when I learned that Pam Long's first, really only, choice for Reva was that actress from TEXAS, Carla Borelli. I cannot see Susan Pratt as Reva. I like Pratt although I agree she is better on AMC.

Oh, Datalounge, the most most credible place in the world. 🤣

He did. I think 5.

There were indeed Datalounge rumors about Marcia Cross going back 20+ years. I know because I was there (and I haven't been at DL in over a decade now, I can barely figure out how to read the board these days). I always assumed she at least went both ways, just saying.

@DRW50 there was indeed a rumor for a long time that Bartlett had to awkwardly turn Ehlers down for obvious reasons. I think Kim alluded to it in the book.

I'm a little surprised--Calla's all over '86, she doesn't get unceremoniously dumped on the train out of Springfield until the very end of December. Calla/Jessie/Simon are ALL exiting by December.  Hello Rusty and Meredith, and Grant Aleksander sneaks back in sometime after Beth "died" and Dinah finds out she's Ross and Vanessa's child.

Susan Pratt was born to play a bitch. Claire's more likable earlier in her run, she begins in '83. Forget Reva---she'd have been a good actress to go up against Zimmer. She shows up as Julia Lindsay's mother on ATWT in '99, and she almost made me feel bad for Julia. And I hated that twit.

Re Maeve: yeah, she knew what she was getting into when she married Kyle, but Kyle is so overbearing that I get why she thought they'd never truly "co-parent" a child.

Most of what I've seen so far of 1986 is the Kyle/Reva/Cain/Maeve/Fletcher/Claire stuff. It's dominated the show. I can see why some viewers might have turned out because it's just so repetitive. I feel like I've watched Kyle and Reva have the same conversation at least ten times. If I heard Maeve mention the engagement and the deed to Reva's house one more time... I think we're done with that (fingers crossed) as now Maeve and Fletcher seem to be headed into a romance so no more deed talk. It's also kind of icky that H.B. keeps saying that he's loved Reva since she was a baby when I know he married her at some point in the show.

Yeah---I just skipped right over the Cain stuff.

The length the show went to make all the Lewis men stupid over Reva really is grating.
