Krista Tesreau original recipe Mindy was a spoiled brat/daddy's little princess and Roger would not have taken that version of Mindy seriously.

Kimberley Simms Mindy initially had some remnants of spoiled brat/daddy's little princess but her Mindy grew up and matured.

Roger/Mindy was more torrid than icky. Despite the initial torridness of their pairing (affair with business rival's daughter), I believe Roger did love Mindy. They wouldn't have worked as a long-term couple because the specter of Roger's feelings for Holly would be lingering in the background.

Kimberley Simms credited the Roger/Mindy storyline for her growing as an actress and Mindy growing as a character. She also said that storyline allowed the audience to see MZ as a romantic leading man and not just a villain.

I'm going to split hairs.

I understand why Kimberly Simms feels that way. She didn't play the first miscarriage, Kurt's death or the beginning of the affair with Will.

I don't think they would've wrote the Roger/Mindy affair if Krista was in the role. (maybe that's naive of me, but I don't.) I don't think the audience would've ever bought her screwing Billy's worst enemy.

As for the torrid vs icky---that's in the eye of the beholder. Roger is old enough to be her father. And I don't think that affair shows a "romantic" side of Roger. He's cheating on his wife with someone his daughter's age, all while having the hots for Holly. It was simply Roger being Roger--using a woman after having used another woman.

The only positive thing I can say was that Roger refrained from taunting Billy with the news.

  • Thanks. I suppose I'd have to check the episodes but I was surprised she was in so many. She played the maid, Mrs. Johnson, on DS (and a few other roles - usually religious maniacs who met bad ends).

Created by Casey S. Hutchison, the mind behind the award-winning audio soap Forever and a Day, Haven Falls centers on two powerful families whose lives have been shaped by betrayal, secrets, scandal, and divided loyalties. As old rivalries reignite and a wedding approaches, the next generation finds themselves caught in the middle. The series also features a familiar face for daytime fans. Jeff Branson, Emmy winner for his role as Shayne Lewis on Guiding Light and known to viewers from All My Children and The Young and the Restless, joins Guiding Light favorite Frank Dicopoulos, beloved for playing Frank Cooper. Kristina Sullivan also reunites with Casey following her five-season run as Stephanie Markham on Forever and a Day.

We’ll discuss creating Haven Falls, bringing serialized storytelling to the audio world, soap opera fandom, Guiding Light memories, and what audiences can expect when the drama premieres this summer.

In theory, Marcy Walker would've made a better Mindy recast than Ann Hamilton or Barbara Crampton. If JFP really wanted cement her latest FOJ into the canvas, they should've done a better job than what was done. If they wanted to still pair her with Josh, they should've made her a Morgan recast. I would have her with a 12 y/o love child of Josh's, one that could be aged up to a teen down the road.

Either would have been better than the Tangie mess, even if she didn't really click with Robert Newman. One of the problems was they threw Marcy in and expected her to have INSTANT chemistry with Newman. Marcy often had chemistry with her leading men but it was a struggle on GL, maybe because she felt screwed over from early on. The one man viewers did enjoy her with - Cutter - JFP made it clear was not going to be paired with her.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I would've had Marcy Walker join GL as Emily Norris (Ken and Janet's daughter, Holly's niece, Blake's cousin) and tried putting her in a triangle with Michael O'Leary's Rick and Grant Aleksander's Phillip. I think that would have worked.

That's actually quite brilliant

A shame Grant was on AMC at the time but the idea still works.

Marcy Walker turned down B&B for GL. I don't think she would have fared any better on B&B, as their cast at that time had too many females in her age range (early 30s) and not enough storyline to go around. Also Fall 1993 Bill Bell passed the reins to Bradley so Marcy Walker dodged a bullet in not having to deal with Bradley writing for her.

There's no doubt Walker made the better choice there, B&B was infamous for signing names, giving them three (or maybe six) months of story, then dumping them.

Honestly, I'm not sure she would ever fit in on GL, no matter who was writing or what character she played. I find her kind of cold.

True. But, you know, I knew even then that he would not be long for that show, lol. I definitely would've built up Rick and Emily's relationship first and waited 'til GA was available again to add Phillip to the mix.

Actually, @P.J. , I would've built that steeliness into her character. After all, Emily likely grew up without a father (or, like w/ her cousin Blake, she might've had a stepfather with whom she had a strained relationship). Plus, her maternal grandmother, Ellen, was an alcoholic, so there's a good chance that Janet eventually turned to the bottle as well, after everything Ed and Ken had put her through. Therefore, with her family history, it would make sense for Emily - who, in my projections, would be an FBI agent - to be emotionally remote at times and initially skeptical about romance and being part of a loving family.

The coolness worked for Liza Colby on AMC once she was softened.

Never saw her on Santa Barbara so I have no idea how she came across there.

But a good writer can tweak a character to an actor's strengths and use it to advantage. Assuming characters aren't secondary to plot. I know. Nice dream.

I could have seen her working with the Dobsons, although the Dobsons gave her some very whacked-out material in their Santa Barbara return involving DID.

But for the greater good, his time on AMC was pretty amazing LOL :) Arlene and Alec are still one of my favorite "villain" pairings to foil my (very early) beloved Hayley and Mateo.
