@DeeVeeAbout JWS & his age, am I the only one who thought part of why he was cast was that Marland was attracted to the actor? Not saying that anyone was going to act on anything, just that people tend to like to surround themselves with people who are physically pleasing to them, ya know? You may be correct on intentional older man/younger woman I'm just putting this out there as a concept. 

Then again I was convinced that there was only one reason that Marty West was [cough] miscast as Shayne, so maybe I'm just being cynical & suspicious.

Yes, I do think that is the case. No, I don't think anything untoward ever happened, but Marland did seem to adore him. Yes, I think in any employment situation, people hire who they like, and part of that is can be finding their physical appearance pleasing. Again, not saying it's always conscious or with the intention of anything being acted upon, it's human nature.

Me too, but they probably felt she was too young. Jackie at that point was the mother of a 10 year old. 

I'm pretty sure the actress she's talking about replacing at the nurse's station is Fran Myers, who played Peggy and exited the show around that time.

@Contessa Donatella I can't get into today's soaps. I haven't watched any in so long and when I did, I would just go to YouTube to get a general sense what was going on and it didn't pull me in. Maybe, it's a nostalgic thing for me. When it hits late 90s, I just don't click with any of them. So much botox and fake looks.

Any writer does tend to have a certain type. I think you saw that again when Marland was at ATWT with the parade of hunky farmhands. It doesn't seem to have been anything untoward as we've never heard any stories along those lines.

It does seem like she replaced Peggy.

I wish we had more of those episodes in detail for an exact date. At one time Denise replied on Youtube that Jerry ver Dorn started on the show before she did, but for some reason I thought Katie was already established by then. I guess it must have been very close.

I understand. I think something happens when people go without watching soaps for a serious term. MY BFF stopped watching & went without for years but is back now with BTG. And, her original "soap habit" began with her having a crush on Sue Ellen at age 6. Then, she became one of the hordes in love with Anne Heche's Vicky. 

I watch 3, am behind, but I fell behind when I was in the hospital  & once you're behind it is the dickens to catch up. (DAYS, GH & BTG)

I love that we are mature enough to discuss this!!! Yes, definitely human nature & also can be harmless. 

Joe Wilmore was a Terrible EP! The ratings dropped. He was a disaster. 

I think I’m gonna watch some more classic episodes tonight but I was wondering if someone could send me the YT link? The vault is great but not ideal.

Denise must be mistaken. Ironically, she's in a 1977 episode where she's talking to a returning Peggy Thorpe. Maybe they went on contract at the same time, but Katie precedes Ross.

For some reason I remember some snippet of Elvera saying she and Jerry started the same day. Which I also find hard to believe.

That's what I always thought too. She may have said longest running cast member as it was a comment about whether Jerry was the longest running when he did the goodbye to Charita Bauer. I thought it was her, but she said otherwise. Maybe she doesn't consider herself as the longest because of her maternity leave breaks. I don't know.

I did remember a clip of her on her channel labeled as 1978 with Mark (or whoever she was dating at the time) and a puppet.
